I love Edward because he is not a typlical guy!. Most guys worry more about how they look in front of others than how they treat you in front of their peers!. They (and I am aware I am stereotyping I apologise) are easily distracted and quite often their brain is not in their head!.
Edward is a guy that girls dream about, most girls at one point or another dreamed of being a beautiful princess, or a fair young damsel who is swept off her feet by her knight in shining armor!. Edward is first of all drop dead gorgeous (an added bonus that is not entirely necessary with all of his other attributes, but is great just the same) he has Bella on his mind at every moment (sorry guys, I am aware you cannot think of six things at once, but at least we are never given any inclination that Edward ever thinks of other females in a romantic view) Edward would risk everything for Bella and is willing to make a hard choice to keep her safe even though it would leave him with the bad end of the deal!. Edward loves Bella despite the fact that she is not particularly pretty or graceful!. Despite the fact that she is accident prone!. Most of all he makes Bella, (and me through Bella) feel like someone who is worth it!. Makes her feel like she is someone special and worth caring about, as much as he can help it he tries not to make her feel one iota of the tiniest bit unspecial or unbeautiful!. He doesn't buy her fancy gifts (partly because she tells him not to and he respects that, to a point) but because of the way he treats her in ecery aspect of his life!. Girls just like to feel like they are cared about and in todays society where guys seem to have lost some backbone and are less inclined to ask a female out (I have never been out on a date) it is great to feel loved even though Edward is talking to Bella and he is a fictional character!. Through Stephenie's writing she has made Edward real to me and through how he treats Bella she has made me feel loved when no other guy takes any notice of me!. Edward could have focused on another girl long before he met Bella, another vampire or a drop dead gorgeous human, but instead it was Bella, an unsignifigant girl that he made into a beautiful person long before he bit her and set his venom through her veins!. Edward was the only entertaining character from Twilight until I stopped, but that was when I looked passed Bella's description of him!. haha He's a lot more interesting than Bella, but he still couldn't save Twilight from Meyer's writing style and other characterizations--a huge reason why I cannot read Twilight!. lol

For the sexiest man in fiction, I nominate Howl from Howl's Moving Castle (book Howl, not movie Howl), because he has the best one liners, as well as his personality being one of those where you're not sure if you want to love him or slap him!.

harry potter is better than edward cullen or any of the twilight characters for that matter!.
the whole idea of vampires is clever but the way stephanie meyers describes them and basically writes is terrible!.
harry potter on the other hand is much more detailed and is obviously better written than twilight!.

Ok, this won't be the best rant because I am tired and it might not make sense!.
I know everyone will give me a thumbs down, but it's my opinion, so here goes!. I think Edward Cullen is one of the worst characters ever!. I think this for a couple of reasons!.
First off, he has no substance!. He is so one dimensional, I at first thought his character was some kind of joke or spoof, for no author could create a more boring character!. He is boring in many ways!. Like the way on almost every single page Meyer points out how perfect he is!. He is a God!. The perfect man!. He can do everything!. But wait! He has one flaw! He is over protective! This most certainly does not equal substance, it just makes him more manly, as Bella's flaws (her clumsiness, self consciousness, etc) makes her more pathetic and more in need of saving!.
Edward also never gives a reason for liking Bella, except she smells good and is a mystery!. They never talk about much and fall in love very quickly!. The most they can talk about is how tough it is for Edward, and how much they love each other anyway!. No reason for this love is explained though!. If Bella didn't smell good and was not the one person who has the mind Edward cannot read, he would ignore her as another human girl!. He spends more time protecting her than he does getting to know her!. This was kind of proved when Edward stupidly thought he could leave Bella forever and she would be fine!. If he actually spent some time getting to know her he might realize this was a bad idea!. Edward doesn't like her for her personality or much else, and this is annoying!.
Another reason he is a flat character is, besides being as stereotypical man as you can get, what personality does he have!? He's just strong, defensive, overprotective, (insert more manly traits here)!. People argue that he is a gentleman, and I guess he does have the manners that many modern guys don't, but that doesn't make a personality!. It just makes whiny girls give their boyfriends hell for not living up to Edward standard!.
And then, there is the fact that is most widely ignored/excused!. When you get down to it, Edward is really a bit creepy!. I think it's the fact that Edward is sooo old that makes everyone not address the grossness!. If Meyer made him fourty, fifty, or sixty, everyone would be saying "eww gross, I don't care how hot he is"!. Instead, he's like 110, which is so old no one remembers he was once thirty, fourty, fifty sixty, and seventy!. No one remembers that if it weren't for him being a vampire, he probably would have gone bald like Bella's dad and eventually became a wrinkly, confused, elderly man!. Imagine Bella standing next to that, hopelessly in love!. Just because he looks seventeen doesn't mean he is!. He doesn't act like a teenager!. He acts like a middle aged man!.
Besides that creepy aspect, there is also the fact that Edward acts like Bella's father!. He commands her not to do things ("Bella, I said NO!")!. He has her sit on his lap and carry her around on his back and tucks her into bed and feeds her!. He tells Bella what she is and is not allowed to do!. To me, this is not an ok relationship, but I bet to some preteen girls, they wish they had a boyfriend who would care that much about them!. The books are channeling unrealisitic messages into young girl's minds and I hate that!. Preteen girls find it sweet how he watches her from her window!. That's not sweet!. That's unacceptable!. also when Edward chowed down on some placenta in Breaking Dawn, I was wondering about Meyer's sanity!. Honestly, why include that in a book when you don't have to!? The birth scene was gruesome enough already!
Things like Edward almost forcing Bella into marriage really got on my nerves, and when he messed with her car so she couldn't drive anywhere, it was too much!.
Then, when Edward started talking about how, if it weren't for Rosalie protecting her, Edward and Carlisle would have held Bella down, knocked her out with drugs, invaded her body, and aborted her child without her permission!. For a guy that claims he would never do anything to hurt Bella, this is about the worst thing you can do to a person!. I can still find that exact quote in the book because it angered me so much!. There are a couple of things that people let slide in these books, excusing Edward's creepy/abusive ways because it is kind of hot!. There is no excuse for this!. I don't care how hot he is, what his intentions were, and how bad the circumstances were!. If my boyfriend even suggested this, I would call the police!. I could go much deeper into this and how wrong it is for teen girls to be reading this, but I am much too tired!.
Then, you could compare him to other characters!. I personally think Severus Snape is ten times the man Edward Cullen will ever be (warning:Harry Potter spoilers coming up)!. Sev actually had to make sacrifices, and didn't get everything he wanted!. Edward just got everything he wanted and more with nothing to give up!. Sev had real flaws, made mistakes, and pays for those mistakes!. As I stated earlier, Meyers pathetic attempt at trying to give Edward flaws just adds to his creepiness!. Snape had true love with someone equal to him (she would often defend him, making a much less sexist relationship)!. It is contantly stated that Edward is superior to Bella in every way!. Severus stood for something till the very end, working hard only to die in a very noble way, becoming the bravest man Harry ever knew!. The fact that Edward is very strong and fast means he rarely ever has to be brave!. And for the record, I think Snape would be a much better boyfriend =]!.
I could make a much better argument, but my mind is just blank with tiredness right now, sorry!. These are only a few of my reasons, and not even the best ones!. Hope it is a bit convincing though =]!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
