I need help coming up with a novel storyline

I don't want any romance's, a romance can only go so many ways!.

Come up with anything you want, i would like to hear it

( but like i said, no romances )

Novel Idea #1: A successful businessman, the kind of guy who always followed the rules and tried to do things right (in other words, he's a decent person), loses his job and can't find another one!. He uses up his savings trying to keep his bills paid, but eventually the bank forecloses on his house!. What happens next!? How does all this affect him, his relationships with his wife, kids, parents, siblings, neighbors and friends!?
This is an Everyman story right now - it's happening to a lot of people out there!. Of course, the main character could be a woman, too!.

Novel Idea #2: An average person is called to duty by a government agency!. The person has never been in the military, has never worked for the government, but is told it is mandatory for any citizen to cooperate with this when called upon!. The person is brought to a secret compound along with a few other average-type people!. Eventually it becomes clear that they have been picked for a reason, not randomly at all, and they may die because of it!.
Why were they picked!? Is it an experiment!? A mission!? What do they do!? How does the main character manage to survive and turn the tables on the government agency!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

How about a Novel Writer that does some big discovery of some sort!.

Like for example discovering a book or artefact that gives an intire
new look on History or something like that!?
