Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Catcher in the Rye or Perks of Being a Wallflower!. Both books had main characters who were lonely and depressed, but you come out of them with a sense of hope and renewed purpose!. Both are also meant more for probably early high school kids, but I read them when I was about 21 or so - amazing books!. Hope this helps!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't know what you like, but here's one I liked -- witty, transnational, written in a modern language: The Russian Debutante's Handbook, by Gary Shteyngart

Or look into some Kurt Vonnegut -- Slaughterhouse Five, Galapagos, Time Quake !. !. !.

If you're depressed but you don't find that necessarily problematic, try some good ole' post-WWII absurdism etc -- Beckett's Waiting for Godot, or Camus' The Stranger and The Fall

Or pre-WWI alienation in Kafka's Metamorphosis

Enjoy! Depression is a logical reaction to the mundane world around you !. !. !. so don't let them drug you!Www@QuestionHome@Com
