Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I'd like to respond from the writers perspective!. Poetry affects me by exercising the demons in my mind!. It allows me to speak in tongues, it lets me try on different clothes and it lets me change the world, if only within!. When I write, when I "speak" I do so in vanity, in desire, in indulgent fantasy, indiscreetly at times, and always in, never out!. Poetry lets me fly, lets me dive, lets me swim fathoms below the surface!. Lets me surface renewed and reborn!. It lets me cry even though I am a man, allows me to rage without incarceration, it lets me caress a memory and hold it tight and then set it free, a butterfly that may never return!. Poetry written, spoken, by me!. In my insanity I can only brush the surface of anothers words, I can appreciate the craft but never the power of their vision!. I cannot see, I can only speak!.
