If you mean where is it filmed, then the answer is in a number of locations!. The station is Yorkshire, while the castle is partly Alnwick castle in Northumberland, and partly somewhere else!. The scenery passed through on the way, including the viaduct, is the West Highlands of Scotland!. The steam train is the Fort William to Mallaig service!. But if you are asking where J K Rowling intended it to be, then the answer is that she deliberately left it vague!. It's a remote location and is protected from muggles by charms!. Filmed at the family seat of the Dukes of Northumberland - Alnwick Castle - and has been of great benefit in financing some of the restoration work to the house and gardens!. The interiors were filmed at Lacock Abbey, the Bodleian Library in Oxford, Christ Church, Oxford, Durham Cathedral, and Gloucester Cathedral - mainly the corridors!.

The local railway station (Hogsmeade) was filmed at Goathland in Yorkshire - better known as Aidensfield in 'Heartbeat'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'll go with Scotland as a measured guess!. In the first book they get the train from London at what, 11!? By the time they draw into the station at the other end (and it's a non-stopping train) it's getting dark!. Well sunset in September is about 7!.30 pm!.!.!. so that's a 8 and a half hour journey from London! Now there aren't many places in the UK that take that long to reach via a single train o!.0

also Harry sees 'Mountains and forests' at the end of the journey!. Again points to Scotland :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wikipedia says it's set somewhere is Scotland!.!.!. It is also being built at Disney world!. :PWww@QuestionHome@Com
