Question: Can you suggest a good novel for me to read!?
I usually like dark mysteries and thrillers (think Clive Barker), crazy philosophical reads (Alice's Adventures, Fear & Loathing, etc!.) and I also enjoy the typical Nicolas Sparks novel every now and then too!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Anything by Jodi Picoult is awsome!. All of her novels contain somewhat of a dark mystery within relationships!. I have read almost all of her books and I can never put them down when I start!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

April Raintree, By Beatriuce Culleton Mosionier!. I know this deters away from the list of your favorites, but it really is a great novel!.

This is the story of two Metis sisters, April and Cheryl Raintree, who are become wards to the Children's Aid Society at very young ages, taken away from their native families and roots, raised in mostly non-Native foster homes!. Cheryl, who has brown skin like an Indian, is proud of her Native heritage!. April, on the other hand, is embarrassed of being Native, and her skin tones allow her to pass of as white (which she does!.) On top of that, Cheryl has a mostly positive experience in foster homes, while April's is mostly negative (the worst being on the DeRoisier farm, where she is bossed around, and made fun of for being Native!. After foster care, April lives out her plan to marry a rich white man, a businessman, but when her Native status is revealed to her husband's family, she is rejected!. Fortunately, April gets a large sum of money from her divorce!. Later on, a romance develops between her and a white attorney whom she ironically couldn't stand in the beginning!.

Ironically, Cheryl, a brilliant student who planned to be a social worker, and budding Indian activist, develops a drinking problem and becomes a prostitute to largely support this habit!. This causes strain between the sisters, who live together in a home that April's divorce bought!. (Cheryl's hooking experience also results in an illegitimate child whom she cannot raise!.) To worsen matters, April, being mistaken for Cheryl, ends up being raped by two white men in a car, complete with racist remarks about how "squaws" love the experience!. This results in a trial that's sure to rival that of Tom Robinson in "To Kill a Mockingbird!." Cheryl's search for her parents also reveals a shocking irony, which leads to her tragedy!.

It really is a recommended read!. To learn more, click on this link: http://www!.amazon!.com/April-Raintree-Bea!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
