Question: What is the name of this novel!?
I read this book in 6th form college many years ago and want to have another read but I cant remember its name! Please help!

Clues are:

The central character is English and is called Camilla (I think) who at the start of the book is lying in a hospital (she is very old) remembering her life and experiences whilst also conversing with the various people visiting her!.

It is set from the approimately the 1940's to 1990's

She is a historian or reporter and has a very confrontational but close relationship with her brother!. She also has one daughter with whom she has a somewhat strained relationship

The narrative switches regularly between the perspectives of the various characters so the reader often gets to see how other characters view Camilla

Other things I can remember:
Camilla takes in a Hungarian orphan, the love of her life was a soldier in WW2, I think the name of her daughters father was Oslo, she never knew her father

Thanks! 10 points for whoever can name the book or help point me in the right direction!

I will post more info if I can remember anything else!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think i found it! took me a while but i think it's what you've been looking for!

the name of the book is Moon Tiger - by Penelope Lively

"Claudia Hampton is an ex-war correspondent, currently a popular historian on her deathbed in a London hospital recollecting her past and along with it some glimpses of the history of the 20th century that she had the good fortune to observe!. Set in both England and in Egypt, the entire book is structured as a series of flashbacks of her childhood, education, adolescence, an intellectually competitive and physically incestuous relationship with her brother Gordon, a condescending relationship with her sister in law Sylvia, life as a reporter in war torn Egypt, her affair with Tom Southern - an army captain and the stillborn child of their union, relocation to London, marriage to Jasper — who is part Russian in his ancestry, their child Lisa, rise to fame as a popular historian and adoption of a Hungarian orphan Laszlo — a product of the Russian invasion of Hungary!. In sum ”Moon Tiger“ is a slice of history which is deeply intertwined with Claudia’s life and portrayed as a memory recall!."
