Question: The Catcher in the Rye !?
It's no fun to be yellow!. Maybe I'm not all yellow!. I don't know!. I think maybe I'm just partly yellow and partly the type that doesn't give much of a damn if they lose their gloves!.

can you explain this quoteWww@QuestionHome@Com

he is justifying his reticence when it comes to getting involved in a physical fight!. he doesn't like fighting, not because he he is scared, just he derives no enjoyment out of it, he doesn't like hurting anyone!. so when it comes to standing up to the guy who stole his gloves, if it comes down to a physical fight, he'd rather just lose his gloves!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't have the book in the house & it's been so long since I read it I can't remember anything about gloves!.!.!.but "yellow" means cowardly!. So maybe he thinks somebody stole his gloves, but he doesn't speak up, partly because he's too cowardly to get into a hassle about it & partly because he's just the type that doesn't give a damn about gloves!. (I think he's in denial, he really does give a damn, but he's afraid if he confronts anybody about it, they'll just mock him & he won't get the gloves back & he'll feel humiliated!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's no fun being cowardly!. He is saying he doesn't think he is a coward or maybe he kind of is but also doesn't care if he throws down in a fight!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
