Question: Who else thinks Harry Potter is overrated!?
I mean, it seems this is the only every reader has read, and has become too mainstream!. I see it as more of a simple story of a hero and a villain than a famous tale of epic proportions (what it has become)
i!.e!. The Lord of the Rings, The Dark Tower, Foundation, to name a few better pieces of work in the same sort-of series (although much more mature) And don't tell me Harry Potter beats LOTR unless you've actually read the BOOKS!.

I dont think its more mature, i think it is pathetic!.
And seriously, the ring can only give invisibility,
AND it draws the opponents near you when you wear it!
Its no good for a mortal, whereas magic etc IS
Harry Potter can make himself invisible and SO MUCH MORE

I don't think hp is too overrated!. I've read both series and love both!. It is talked about a bit too much (although with twilight series now, i wish it was talked about more :D)!. The series are different!. Lotr is a more of epic, travelling the entire Middle-Earth to destroy something which is the only way to kill the bad guy!. Hp is kind of a more less adventerous story!. Harry doesn't really strike out and travel to kill voldemort!. Voldemort attacks him and so then harry must fight back!. You said hp was a simple story, but I think it has a pretty complex plot (more complex than alot of books at least)!.

Good god, you seem very vehemently opposed against the HP books!. Yeah, it's kinda overrated!. But why, goodness knows!. I too am obsessed with it, but to a limit!. Today, HP books are compared to that of Stephen King's, J!.R!.R!. Tolkiens and by some brainless wonders, to Agatha Christie, Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl!. I don't know why, can you tell me!?
Yeah, I find the LOTR books a bit better that the HP ones!. I think they were the first proper 'fantasies' meant for adults and older children!. They are more advanced than HP books!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
i didn't like harry potter too much!. i read the first book!. thought it was just ok!. i was debating if i should read the second!. i decided to give it a chance!. it was also just ok!. i thought the third time would be the charm to get me hooked, but again, it was only ok!. i really didn't see what was so good about it!. after the third i just stopped reading them all togetherWww@QuestionHome@Com
