illustrator?

Question: I can't remember the name of this children's book author/illustrator!?

The illustrations were so beautiful and detailed! There were a lot of series of books centered around Christmas time, and I believe the artist's first name was Jan, and for some reason I think there was always a hedgehog drawn into every picture!. I may be wrong about the hedgehog part!.
