The categories are a bit ambiguous, but I believe that romance novels are generally the overall category; contemporary romance would mean that the setting is in modern 21st century urban setting; this is as opposed to historical romance novels, set in, say Elizabethan times, or Victorian era, or 15th century France or Italy!.
