Yes, there are novelizations of the movies that were written as the movies came out that you can read!. They include a little more of the back story than you see in the movies, but they basically follow the movies!. There is also a ton of other books that take place in the Star Wars Extended Universe, featuring the continuing adventures of the main characters, introducing new characters and filling in the gaps between the movies!.

This is just for the first movie (Episode IV)

I believe that there is an omnibus book that includes the novelizations for Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi all in one book!. also, if you can find them, the audio book version of the original NPR broadcasts that were done at about the time the movies came out are quite good and worth a listen!.

To find these books, go to the science fiction section of your bookstore!. At the end (usually) of the alpha by author shelves you should find the series books - you can't miss the Star Wars books - there will be at least 100 or so books on the shelves!.

I would recommend you seeing the movies as well, if you get a chance!. While not the best movies of all time, they are fairly well done and worth the 2-3 hours, at least for the original movies!. I wasn't as crazy about the newer movies (episodes I, II and III), but the original movies are among my all time favorite movies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
