Question: What does the picture on the cover of book "Twilight" signify!?
What does the picture on the cover of the book "Twilight" mean!?Ive heard many different things it means like Umm i was told by my friend that it signified the "Adam and Eve" concept about (both of them) Bella not being "pure" after meeting Edward!. Ummm i saw the trailer for the movie and i saw that Bella had dropped an apple and Edward quickly picked it up with his foot!.!.!.and when i read the book there was also a part were they're siting together and they're going to eat and they talk about his "diet" blah blah blah!.
So which one is it!?!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The apple on the cover of Twilight represents "forbidden fruit!." I used the scripture from Genesis (located just after the table of contents) because I loved the phrase "the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil!." Isn't this exactly what Bella ends up with!? A working knowledge of what good is, and what evil is!. The nice thing about the apple is it has so many symbolic roots!. You've got the apple in Snow White, one bite and you're frozen forever in a state of not-quite-death!.!.!. Then you have Paris and the golden apple in Greek mythology—look how much trouble that started!. Apples are quite the versatile fruit!. In the end, I love the beautiful simplicity of the picture!. To me it says: choice!.

Actually, it signifies the Forbidden Apple, like in the Garden of Eden that Adam and Eve weren't allowed to eat!?!.!.!. remember when Edward said that he was giving up trying to stay away!? He originally tried to keep himself away from Bella since she is human and he finds her blood tempting, so that he wouldn't harm her or give away his family's secret!. But this eventually backfires and they get together, even though their love is forbidden!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it means something like Adam and Eve!. They were tempted to eat off the apple tree when they were not supposed to!.

Bella and Edward are not meant to be together!. (Well they are, of course!.!.) but it's supposed to be dangerous for them to be together but they are tempted and they can't help it!.!.!.

And that part in the movie trailer where Robert Pattinson picks up the apple, that's just some random extra, I think!. That didn't happen in the book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I really dont think it has anything to do with Edwards diet!. I would lean more towards the adam and eve thing!. I personly think it doesnt signify anything i think its just away to attract the readers!. I believe on that cover tho the hands holding it are pale white but i think thats is!. Because i mean what does and flower and a ribbon have to do with the other two books!. The only book i know about is the last one Breaking Dawn!. I know the cover signifies Edward and the King Chess Peice protecting and watching over Bella who hovers in the back represected by the red pawn!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

lol no it has nothing to do with with his dietXD!. It actually has to do with the forbidden fruit when eve took the apple!. I think the idea of it all, is there love is forbidden!. A human and vampire should never fall in love with one another and thats exactly what happens!. I always thought that the apple represent Edward, and Bella was Eve going for the fruit that she should have never touched!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it has to do with choice and adam and eve!. should eve take the apple!?

the dropping of the apple and Edward catching it was not in the book, but was in the trailer!. it may or may not be in the actual movie!.

this has nothing to do about Edwards diet seeing that he drinks blood!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

catching an apple!? I dont even remember him doing that in the book!.!.!. but i might be wrong because i read it a long time ago!.!.!.!.!.!.The movie is so different! In the preview!.!.!.he climbs trees!.!.!.!. he never did that in the book!!!.!.!. But your friend is right about Adam and Eve thing the author said something about fruitWww@QuestionHome@Com

it said on the internet it had something to do with Adam and Eve!.

It symbolizes Bella and Edward's love, which is forbidden
Like the love Adam and Eve had!. Plus the forbidden fruit!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Basically the hole Adam and Eve theory is the correct one!. The forbidden fruit, tastes the sweetest!. Edward and Bella's love [vampire and human] is forbidden, but it is meant to be!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well i think it has to do with adam and eve!. because the apple is the "fruit of temptation" and edward was very tempted to kill bella!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

when i was reading it there was a part where it said his pale hand together held a red apple!. or something like that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's the forbidden fruit!. And everything Edward and Bella have is forbidden!.

And to add to the very first answer!. Breakind Dawn's cover doesn't mean that Edward is protecting her!. It's actually representing how Bella used to be the weakest person (physically) compared to all the vampires and werewolves she hangs out with!. And when she becomes a vampire she actually ends up saving the Cullens!. So the pawn is Bella before immortality and the Queen is Bella afterword!.

And New moon her publisher chose the cover, and she had no say!. And I never read about Eclipse, but I'm guessing it's the same thing!.

I read all of this at Stephanie's website!.
