Question: Harry Potter- question on wandless magic!?
If a person were hit with the spell that makes them immobile (like in the first movie where that happens to Neville as leave Gryffindor Tower) would they still be able to do wandless or non-verbal magic!? Like, would they be able to think the spell in their heads!?

Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Good question!

If a wizard was hit by a spell that made him immobile, he would not have the ability to do non-verbal magic!. That wizard could not wave his wand with the appropriate motions because he is frozen, and that's a huge part of spell work! Besides pronouncing the incantation correctly, he must wave his wand correctly as well!. For example, if the same wizard was hit by a spell that took away his ability to speak, he could still use spells considering he could still wave his wand and then use a non-verbal incantation!.

As for wandless magic, the wizard would have to be extremely powerful, like Dumbledore or Lord Voldemort!. A regular ol' wizard just couldn't control the wild power of magic not channeled through a wand!. also, consideirng the fact that children can produce wandless magic as well, I believe that is because they have zero control over it yet, and usually can not control what they make or destroy!. Adult wizards who actually want to produce wandless magic, however, will find it much more difficult!.

I really hope this helped answer your question!. If not, you could try researching further at this website: http://harrypotter!.wikia!.com/wiki/Main_P!.!.!.

Since it is not mentioned in the books about being able/not able to use wandless magic without a wand, we don't really know!.

However, if wizards could!.!.!.!.surely Dumbledore could have used it in Book 6 before his death!? I personally think, no because wizards have to channel their energy through a magical instrument!.

EDIT: That is incorrect Phoenix Fire, in the 6th H!.P!. Book, the class is taught to use magic without saying any incantations, without the burst of emotion!.

No they need a wand to perform the magic!. wandless magic (this applies to wizards only) happens randomly and when the wizard feels a sudden burst of emotion!. They can't control when it happens!. and wandless magic is you could say uncontrolable so wizards that are just learning to use magic don't have much control which is why it happens to them (Harry- book 1 and book 3, and also when he was at "muggle" school)Www@QuestionHome@Com

no, because your lips and toungue are frozen, and for now, every part of your boday is frozen, and that includes your magical ability, so even if you were holding a wand when someone used the Full Body-Bind spell on you, you wouldnt really be able to do anything!. hope this helps!!!!! =DWww@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think Rowling ever specified if they could use magic like that!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
