Question: In Interview With The Vampire (the novel) what really happens to vampires when they go into the sunlight!?
I haven't finished it yet but its been bothering me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
It burns them (kills them)!. An ancient vampire could survive the exposure for longer, but it would take him/her a very long time to heal!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

According to Anne Rice's rules of vampirism, an older vampire could survive exposure longer, but otherwise the sunlight burns/kills them!. Hope this helps!

Heads up to the Twilight fans that are replying!. There are many, many different legends and rules when it comes to vampires and every author must establish their own rules of vampirism and abide by them throughout the story!. So where Stephenie Meyer's vampires sparkle in the sunshine, Anne Rice's creatures of the night are just that - nocturnal!. Don't assume Twilight's guidelines as a general rule for all vampires!.
