I would just draw a picture of the Mage, Swordsman, and Ranger in their gear!. You don't really need to draw them in combat, but just so that the reader understands that they will have a conflict!.!.!.make them look menacing and powerful I guess!.
Maybe put the Mage in the middle and a little more forward (so a little bigger) than the other two!.
Black background to keep the focus on the characters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow! Vague! What are the landscapes in the book!? Mountainous regions, valleys, sea-side!?

For example, if there is a mountainous region in the book you could have mountains as the background & a clearing as the foreground!. Have a lot of dust kicked up in the clearing (signs of a fight), with a sword sticking out of the ground in the immediate foreground!.
