One who writes in the same thriller genre but in America!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
There was nobody quite like Agatha Christie!. If you wanted another British mystery author, I would recommend Dorothy L!. Sayers (Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries) and Margery Allingham (Albert Campion mysteries)!. I would also recommend the New Zealand author whose mysteries were set in England: Ngaio Marsh (the Inspector Roderick Alleyn Series)!. Another English author who wrote mysteries set in Medieval England was Ellis Peters!. Her first Brother Cadfael mystery was A Morbid Taste for Bones!. G!.K!. Chesterton's (also English) Father Brown mysteries are also good!.

Though the stories are more hardboiled, if you know what I mean, I would recommend the American author Rex Stout and his Nero Wolfe stories, which are truly excellent!. The first one was Fer-de-Lance!.

Though not on a par with Agatha Christie or the others I've mentioned, I would also recommend some of Mary Higgins Clark's mysteries!. Some of her earlier ones were really good - Weep No More, My Lady or Where are the Children!? or While My Pretty One Sleeps, for instance!.

This site http://auburn-hills!.lib!.mi!.us/Adult/Book!.!.!. gives a list of authors who read somewhat like Agatha Christie!. At least some of them write/wrote novels set in England, however!.

Wikipedia http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Category:Am!.!.!. has a list of American mystery authors you may want to check out!.

I hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
