it never actually explains what the apple means but I think it's supposed to represent that part in Genesis where God tells Adam and Eve not to eat of the forbidden fruit but they can't resist the temptation and take a bite anyway!. this is kinda like Edward and Bella!. Edward is offering Bella something to partake of, even though it's bad for both of them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

actually, stephanie meyer says on her website that the apple is there because of a scene in the first book where bella asks edward if he would eat an apple, and he says it would be like bella eating only tofu!.!.!.!.good idea with the whole genesis thing, but its merely a picture from a scene in the first book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it doesn't mention it in the book but i think it's a symbol of the forbidden fruit which stands for their forbidden love like when edward had to fight for Bella and also when Bella had to fight for Edward
