Can anyone help me with the title of a children's novel?

Question: Can anyone help me with the title of a children's novel!?

I have quite clear memories of a fantasy novel I read when I was younger, but for the life of me can't recall the title!. The story revolved around a poet who was taken from our world to a fantasy world to perform as a bard for a dragon!. I remember there was a girl who helped/guided him, and a tiny 'shoulder dragon' that kept him company!. In the end he appeased the dragon with some shiny, golden, filmy wrapping paper from our world!.

I think this book might possibly be "Foiling the Dragon" by Susan Price!. The protagonist poet's name is Paul, and the dragon tends to eat the bards who performed for him once he gets bored!. Does that sound like the right book!?
