Question: Does True Blood the T!.V!.series do the book series justice!?

Almost!. There are some changes, naturally!. As someone else has already said, the endless sex scenes of Jason screwing yet another tramp are over the top and don't add anything to the television show!. In the books, we don't have to read this crap - it's acknowledged that Jason is a slut, but the readers aren't watching over his shoulder!.

The books are told in first person by Sookie, which means that the reader knows what she thinks!. That's hard to do in a television show, and that's why they put the character of Tara in!. Tara does not exist in the first few books!. When she does show up later in the books, she's a white lady who owns a clothing store, not a black chick with a bad attitude and self-esteem problems!.

Lafayette is just a minor character in the book!. He doesn't give Jason vampire blood, either!.

The television show does a reasonably good job of staying true to the book!. It's based only on the first book, "Dead Until Dark" by Charlaine Harris!. From a few things that have been dropped into the tv show so far, it looks like there may be at least some tentative plans to make further books into tv series later on!. They've put in a couple of details that don't show up until books 3 and 5 and 6 - doing a bit of foreshadowing!

The books are terrific!. I bought the first 6 and read all of them in about 10 days!. They're hard to put down!.

Sookie has some interesting times ahead of her!.

Oh !.!.!. and keep your eyes on the tv show - if they keep the part in the show and got the casting right, we should be meeting a vampire named Bubba in the next episode or two!. Bubba is !.!.!.!.!.!.!. well, you'll know him when you see him!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm about half-way through the first book right now (I'd never read the books until I started watching the show) there are quite a few differences but it still seems to follow the same storyline!. I think the show is reallllly good!.!.!.if you haven't watched it yet you should check it out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
