Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
He thought it was a good story!. Shakespeare almost always took the theme of his plays from a previous writer or from history!.
Romeo and Juliet, in the mixed up minds of their youth, thought they were in love!. The families were trapped in a circle of hate!. Each family was, in their vanity, certain that it was better than the other!. In this age, in Verona, it was normal to be subjected to interfering families and this often led to violence and, occasionally, as in this story, to tragic death!.
And next time, do your own homework!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Basically, he wanted to show how true love was affected by the society it was born in!. How is would cope under the strains such as the fueding families and the age, the naivety of the young lovers, the families that would not stand for it!.
He shows the contrast between the love of the lovers and the hate of the rest of Verona!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
