Go read the book!. It's a lot better than the tv series, although the tv series is definitely enjoyable!. The book is based on the novel "Dead Until Dark" by Charlaine Harris!. It's the first book in a series and from some of the tidbits the writers have dropped into True Blood, it does appear that there are at least some tentative plans to turn more of the books into television series!. They've thrown in a couple of details that come from books 3 and 5 and 6!.

And yes, it's Rene, Arlene's boyfriend who works with Jason!.
