It's been years since I read the book but if I remember right, his aunt sexually abused him and he repressed the memories!. I honestly do not remember the book very well but wasn't it something like, everything sexually related would set him off!? So I think it was just the fear of sexuality coupled with the fact that he didn't know WHY he was so terrified!. Post traumatic stress disorder, maybe!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

From what I got from the book, His Aunt may have molested him when he was young, He could be suffering from anxiety from the memories!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
