I am writing a story set in the 18th century and I was wondering whether they accepted gay people in that century!. Or, if they didn't, what they did to them!.

I'm not sure the idea of homosexuality had even entered people's minds then!. However, it existed at all times, even though no one spoke about it!. It existed in the Renaissance - Shakespeare probably had contact with other men!.

One thing is certain: Men did have very strong friendships with other men - friendships they valued over other relationships, even above marriage!. Who knows, every now and then a friendship might have gone further than a platonic relationship!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
