Dude, I read it when it was on the "New Releases" shelf at Dymocks!. I thought yeah, okay, this looks good!.!.!.and I bought it!. Sure I was there by chance, but whatever!.

Personally I don't think it matters when you read/watch/learn about something!. People who are all "I knew about this before you, therefore I am a bigger fan than you" annoy me!.

But in the case of Twilight!.!.!.

I try to be calm and patient while I listen to the girlfans ranting at my school, and I try to avert my eyes politely whenever a girl comes dressed as Alice or Bella on free dress days!. But, by the end of it I just think they need to shut the frick up!.

It's sad when people actually think they are IN the book, that they KNOW the characters, that they are PART of the world!. Seriously, listening to some of the people go on and on and on is so sad, because they think they're part of it!. Argh!. I just cringe! I mean, it's all well and good to get "lost" in a book, to "fall in love" with a book!.!.!.but then there's a point where it just gets downright sad!.

The reason Twilight was such a success was because it plays to every fantasy any teenage girl could possibly dream of!.

I have a same kind of story as you!.!.!.my friend picked on me for DAYS and DAYS and was so nasty because I took the day to line up out front of a bookstore and get New Moon when it came out!. She was like "Oh are you serious!? A book!? You idiot!.!.!." I didn't hear the end of that for more than a month!. And now, she's one of the worst "OMIGODEDWARDCULLEN<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3" - 's around!.

Yeah, it's a pretty unreal book!. But people need to remember that it is just that - a BOOK!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I first read it 2 and a half years ago!. I was just 15 and thought it was OMGamazing!. I ranted and raved, got all my friends onto it and read it a million times!. I was going INSANE waiting for Eclipse!. But after Eclipse I didn't read it for about a year!. Suddenly it was huge and I was like "oh snap i liked this ages ago"!. I decided to do a long overdue reread before Breaking Dawn!. And I was reading it and had a terrible epiphany!. Stephenie Meyer is actually an appalling writer!. I realised the characters were one dimensional, mary sues!. Bella was a whiner and Edward was completely unrealistic and possessive!. I was horrified to find the book I'd devoted so many hours to had lost its appeal!. I forced down Breaking Dawn with disgust!. I don't know how i disillusioned myself to enjoy that load of rubbish!. urgh!. I hope one day you see the light tooWww@QuestionHome@Com

I feel the same way!! It really bothers me how there are all of a sudden 4120934820 #1 fans out there!. But I bet if you asked them one question the would be so confused!. A girl in the school wont stop saying EDWARD IS MINE!!!! But I asked her if she knew who Jasper or Emmett was and she said"There are no characters like that in the story!" I am happy for stephenie but the overly obsessed fans really bug me! I started reading about 6 months ago too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read it about a year ago, as well!. So when I came to school this year, and saw over twenty five people carrying the books, being fan-girls over edward cullen, it made me sort of upset!. i am glad that people are reading the books, and love them so much, but as an original reader, i kind of wish i could go throw the school day without a conversation on it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read it in March of this year, so I guess I'm still a newbie!. Actually Twilight isn't really that huge in my area, at least it wasn't at my high school!. But I was pulling out my hair waiting for BD!. I understand what you mean though, I felt that way about Harry Potter!. My thing is the people who try and stake claim on Edward, as if he were real, and get in fights [over the internet] about who is better, Jacob or Edward!.!.!.I have seen it!. And oh my gosh the movie rants about the cast and this and that wasn't in the book!.!.!.ugh!.

It's ridiculous!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

people just want to be cool!. when twilight loses popularity, those same people will be going from 'Edward is mine' to 'Edward who!?'!. Granted, I'm a guy and I like Twilight, so maybe that's why I'm not howling at the moon (No pun intended) everytime i hear the word 'Twilight', but that's just as annoying to me too!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read the first one when I was really young & no one had known about it yet, so I know what you mean!. o!.o I wasn't expecting it to become so widely popular, either! I completely agree with you that it's really annoying when everyone goes on their OMG EDWARD CULLEN IS MINE rant!. xD Yes, I am agrravated, to state it simply!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am aggravated because I honestly hoped that the book wouldn't become that popular because I knew people would be ranting about it like they are!. Sure, it gets old plus it feels like for the people who read it over a year ago like us that it's our book, we didn't just read it because everyone else was, we read it cause we found it and thought it sounded interesting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i know, its annoying!. they are good books, and now everyone has read them and love them, i'm not as interested!. yeah, me and my friend both read them before the massive hype thing, and everyone was like; "what the hell!? vampires are pathetic!" and when i tell them they said that, they deny it!. its so weird!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read it when it first came out and i told my friend it was a good book all she said is how can you read crap about a vampire!. She has started them a few weeks ago and now cant stop talking about it so yes it does annoy me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I feel just like you!. i was the first person to read twilight in my class!. and since everyone saw me always reading it, no breaks!. now there are like seven kids in my class who are reading them, and they are all like "edward is so damn hot!"Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know it's aggravating because you read it first, and now, they are like OMG this book is soo amazing, right!? Just laugh at them in your mind!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!.!.!.Omg I have basically the same situation as you!.!.!.I started reading them over a year ago and I felt like an individual!.!.!.now EVERYONE is reading them its just very annoying!. Like all the popular girls are reading them and are like omg i love edward cullen he is so hot and i was just like omg shut up!.!.!.!.you cant say that you have just gotten past the 1st book you dont understand him properly and you can NOT describe edward as hot its not the type of word that has any relation to him!.!.!.he is perfect, beautiful, a gentleman!.!.!.etc!. It just make me so grrrrr!.!.!.!. lol I don't mind if people choose to start reading it now!.!.!.but as long as they just read all the books and actually understand what is happening!!! Www@QuestionHome@Com

I started reading Twilight in August and I'll openly admit that I bought it because someone in the bookstore was ranting on about how good it was!. Now, I absolutely adore it but does that give me any less reason to love it than you!? In England, it was released later than it was in the US and no-one ever spoke about it and you hardly ever saw it on the shelves, so how was I supposed to know about it!? I don't like the books because everybody else does, I like them because I want to!.

It annoys me too when people say OMG I'm Mrs Cullen! so it's not just 'original readers' as you refer to them, who gets p issed off with that!. It's not YOUR book just because you read it before some people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
