Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I enjoy third the most, although I was in the middle of reading a very good book, Looking for Alaska by John Green, and it wasn't until far into the book that I even realized it was written in first person!.

I think as long as a story is written well, I don't care, but when a story is only mediocre, I'd rather go through it in third person rather than first person!.

I like writing third person better, because I feel "trapped" with the "I" language!.!.!. if you need to show the audience something that doesn't happen in front of the character, there has to be some creative maneuvering to get the reader there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I prefer reading and writing in third person limited, so you can get an unbiased telling of the story, but still have a feeling of the character's emotions!.
With first person, I feel like the author is trying to live out a fantasy and the writing almost always sounds immature, like a ten year old wrote it!.
There are some exceptions, of course, namely the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray or The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong- all wonderfully written and in first person!.
But others, namely Twilight, have Mary-Sue characters extremely poor writing quality!.

It goes both ways for me!. I love reading first and third person, it all depends on the story!. When I'm writing I lean towards first person a little more because it lets you get deeper into the character and really live through them!. It's like you get to be another person or something!.!.!.!.but I like third person too I guess it depends on the story though!. I'm about to start writing a story now and I'm using third person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Either one!. From May until September I've been reading in all First Person and my writing has turned into First person!. Then I started reading Third Person and and it was weird!. I think I like both but with Third Person you can switch the narrative!. But I think it is much easier to write with First person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When reading it really depends on the atmosphere of the book- if its in the style of an account then it wouldn't suit to be in third person etc!.
I prefer to read in third person though and i prefer to write that way too- to read because you get a deeper understanding of other characters because the story is told from an omniscient narrator and to write!.!.!.well!.!.!.i find it much easier!!

I would say that it depends on the writer!. Some writers do a great job writing on first person, some do a terrible job!.

For example, one of my favorite books ever is Dracula!. If you have read the book (and not seen any of the thousands of movies about it), you know it was written in first person, for each of several of the main characters!. Stoker made a GREAT job!.

On the other hand, one of the most interesting thing I've found is a modern book written in first person plural (Virgin Suicides, by The Virgin Suicides)!.

With respect to third person, well, I prefer the witness to the omniscient, this means, when the person writes in third person, but as someone who is watching the events, not as someone who knows everything about everyone on the book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

With reading, it doesn't really matter to me!. I read and enjoy both!. I've written in both, but I'm much more often in first person!. I like to be in a character's head, getting into the inner dialogue, and showing things from a more personalized view!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hard to say!. I think I'm better at writing in the third person, but I like reading in the first better, so I try to write that way when I can to improve!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My favorite books are in first person!.

But I've never been able to write in first person all that convincingly!. I tend to write in third because I like having flexibility with my characters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

third is just a tiny bit better than first!. Second person is good, but a little bit too confusing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

third!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
