Question: Where can I find inspiration for writing!?
Heey =)

I've always enjoyed writing stories and things, but I haven't written anything for quite a while now!. There's a short-story writing competition in college that I'm thinking of entering, but I have absolutely no ideas whatsoever!. I have some, but they're on a much larger scale and can't really be broken down!.

So I was just wondering!.!.!. where do you guys get your ideas!? Your inspiration!? Your spark!?

I suppose this may not be helpful but it is honest, I get my inspiration from other authors writings!. I don't steal their ideas so much as I am determined to write as well as them if not better!. With each book I read I feel as though 'I can do that' or 'This book was crap and I can write waaaaay better' or 'Oh My Gosh that was so good I wonder if I can do it'!.
So for me inspiration is in writing!. I love to read the written word and I love to make phrases turn and twist at the end of my favorite pen on rose colored paper and make the mind of the reader say 'I haven't seen that before' or 'how poetic' or 'that is so fantastic'!. The inspiration for me is creating!. Creating anything and challenging myself!. I will work on a dare (that's how I finished my first manuscript)!. My best friend dared me to write a book from start to finish!. I have short stories I've written because of my writing group!. Four of us had lunch after a meeting and we challenged one another to switch genre's for a storyline!. We used a central theme 'Tequila Mockingbird' and one had to write it as an Urban fiction story, another fantasy, a third a ghost story and I got a gothic story!.
I saw a student who had to re-write the 'gingerbread man' story and sent him off on a killing spree!. Had to admit I loved it!. Another kid has an assignment where he has to look himself in the mirror and describe the opposite of what he sees!. He's starting to look a lot like a vamp!. I was given a challenge of making a short about an immortal creature!. I decided that Vampires are all over the place and Lycan's aren't immortal but angels are!. So I have now a trilogy I want to write based on my concept!.
I wanted to write a fantasy so I used a character from Stargate Atlantis, pinned his picture up and used his characteristics to create my hero, then sort of winged it from there, I created an omniscient Heroine who is forced into human form and pretty much must destroy a galaxy and yet she is now feeling humans feelings and is reluctant!. All in all I write contemporary romance, boy meets girl and lots of lusty scenes but I want to be known in a broader sense and so I challenged myself to learn other genres by reading them and then mimicking them!.

It's been a blast so far!.

From anywhere!.

Writing is something that can't be forced, it has to come from nowhere and everywhere!. Take a walk, read a book, watch some television, anything will do!. Before you know it, a story idea will pop into your head from almost nowhere, and if you are passionate about it, you should write it down!. If not, wait until the next idea comes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I get my inspiration from people!. From people and places and things!. I carry on for me!. In every aspect to carry on you have to be you!. Never give up!. Ever!. Places might bring inspiration to you, otherwise just write, even if it is a load of rubbish you can always fix it later!.

A main aspect of my inspiration is people!. My teachers and my parents!. They believe in me more than I believe in myself - they believe in me to an extent that my teacher gave me the highest mark out of 500 people!.

Inspiration can be drawn from anything; look hard enough and you'll find it!.

You could look at the unusual news stories section on Yahoo news and imagine a good reason why someone would do that!. Put yourself in that person's situation and decide how you would explain yourself to the police or your friends and family!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I get it from all over!. My own experiences, dreams I have, articles I read in the newspaper or online!.!.!.things like that!. AN active imagination helps :-)
