Question: ISBN-10 vs!. ISBN-13!? What is the difference!?
Sorry, I'm not really sure which category to post this in!.

I was making a list of books I want to read and I like to write down the ISBNs so they are easier to find when I go to a bookstore!. I noticed on Amazon!.com that they list an ISBN-10 and -13!.

Does anyone know the difference between the two numbers!? Does it matter which one I write down for reference!? Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If a book has both you can use either!.

The ISBN changed from 10 to 13 digits in January 2007!. For reprints of the same book both will be listed!. Use of the 13 digit number is encouraged, because the 10 digit one will be phased out, however a book with a 10 digit code will still be locatable with that number!. You will notice that the only differences are to be found in the first 3 digits and in the last, which is known as the check digit!.
