a bit overrated!?People(girl teens,especially) always say it is a good book and all!.But I think they just overrate it!.There are many books in the market which plot is about vampires and mortals falling in love!.!.!.why is "twilight" so different!?I tried to read it but I got bored the moment i started!.!.!.I think it has a flat and boring plot,very ordinary characters and a "normal" storyline!.!.!.!.

I have never read the series!. I am a romance novel fanatic and have read stories of vampires falling in love with mortal women!. I had never heard of the Twilight series until I noticed it was talked about like a wildfire here on Yahoo Answers!. So I thought, What the hell!? I had found it at my local bookstore and took a peek at the first page!. It is written in first person format!. I put it back on the shelf and never looked back!. I can't say whether it is a good book, bad book, overrated, or not!. People have their own opinions on everything!.

My opinion: It is hard to stay focused on the story when it is written in first person format!. I will never read it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

there are many teens ( like me and a lot of other people i know) who only knew "cedric diggory"(actually named robert pattinson) was going to play edward cullen after we read the book!. and we thought the book was AWESOME even before the whole movie drama came about!.

i think the relationship of edward and bella is what makes it so appealing to so many people!. that's what makes it different!. along with the usage of other characters!. meyer's writting style was also good!.

and what nowadays isn't overrated!? almost everything is overrated! but i truly think twilight deserves the overation!

i totally agree!. I felt the plot was way to slow!. Nothing seemed to really happen till the end of the book!. Everything centered around their romance which is okay but the plot needed more to it than their forbidden love!. vampire romances are easy to predict in the sense that the mortal character will at some point become immortal!. it really pissed me off that it didn't happen in the first book!. it was sort of a "get on with it" feeling!. Meyer waits till the last book after the girl has a kid to turn her!. i mean seriously, drawing the plot out a bit to much!. twilight did nothing for me because it doesn't seem like a vampire book!. it's not dark and ominous!. it's just another teen romance!. edward is a character in the book!. why someone would be in love with him is beyond me!. just because a cute actor is playing him doesn't mean the book is any good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read the twighlight series and i loved it!. i thought the relationships in the book were amazing and the writing clever and witty!. I understand if you didn't like it but this book isn't just for teens either!. Im 23 and most of my "older" friends loved it as well!. I read it before i even knew about the movie and still think that edward cullen is an amzing character!. Just because you didn't like it, doesn't mean that everyone else are morons for liking it!. I am a fan of the Twilight books!. Are you just talking about the book or the whole series!? Cos, if you read the rest of the books in the series, there's no 'typical' vampire romance!.!.!.The second book especially is quite a twist into the almost tragic love genre!. And it's because the characters are normal, that they're so loveable!. And I haven't seen the movie yet so I am in no way biased by the movie!.!.!.besides my fav character is Bella and I don't like Edward much at all!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, listen don't laugh at me but I am in my thirties and I loved the books!. I am an avid reader so when my niece gave me the books I just looked at them for a long time!.

I mean, if she liked it, how could I!? right!?!? lol

I agree a little with a previous answer that this book was writtten for girls!. Just like Star Wars is for guys!.

They both have their archetypes that fit so perfectly for both genders!. I think its a psychological thing!.

I read all kinds of books, I am addicted to it almost soooo, I think the books were very well written!. Her characters are very well rounded!.

There is a huge percentage of people on Yahoo Answers that think it's overrated, just search for Twilight topics and you'll get an abundance of opinions!.

It's rubbish!. If the characters were just ordinary I could tolerate it, but they're unrealistic Mary Sues - Bella is a blatant self-insert of Meyer and Edward is her ideal boyfriend (sad that her idea of perfection is someone who is good-looking but has an appalling personality)!. I'd imagine the "plot" is what she wishes high school was like - the whole thing is self-indulgent trash!.

ETA: ME - I agree, mostly, except that Edward doesn't respect Bella at all!. Sabotaging her car so that she can't see her best friend!? That's not respect, that's abuse!. If he had respect for Bella I wouldn't dislike these books anywhere near as much!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not at all, I've heard many a person complain that the books are fairly lame!.

However my personal favorite was the discussion I had about a week ago at my friends house with his dad!. (Who reads more books in a month than your average librarian) His analysis of them was that they are just "chick porn" and by that he went on to say that they are all the things about romance that girls like, lots of foreplay, and no real action!. Other criticisms are that you have detailed descriptions of how BEAUTIFULLY and DASHING these fictional men are and how they all fall madly in love with the same girl (for no apparent reason) Willing to sacrifice immortality, friendship, honor, ect!.!.!. (everything) for this girl who really, isn't very special, has nothing really about her!. Which is what girls daydream about!. (especially preteen/teen girls)

So, as far as amazing litrature!.!.!. their not!.
However as far as pinning their demographic to a T!. And being one of the best novel series of it's type!? Meh, perhaps!. It is what it is!. Just like The Wiggles will never win an Oscar, but you can't argue that it isn't exactly what 2-5 year old kids LOVE with all their SOUL!. The twilight series will never win a Pulitzer, but yeah, preteen girls will lap it up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most of the Twilight lovers are kids!. They barely have read any book other than Twilight!.
If Edward Cullen was ugly and he didn't respect Bella in the manner he respects her and treats her in the books, I bet that no one would like these series!.
Simple minds are very easy to please!.
It's a truly shame that these series are popular!. They don't deserve nothing from the attention they are getting!.
It's a just a pure garbage, in a shape of a book!.
