There isn't an age limit, although a lot of authors tend to be older, simply because they have more experience at it!.

Once you have finished writing your novel (which in itself is an achievement), read through it, and then make any changes that are necessary (ie spelling, plot inconsistencies, etc)!. After that, give it to a friend, relative or teacher to read over, to make sure there are no mistakes you've missed, and to also see what they think!.

After all the corrections are made, you can then send it off to an agent, or directly to a publisher, though becuase you are younger, I'd say definitely go for an agent first, as they will help you with all the contract stuff (I'm 27 and I still don't understand it!)!.

You can find a list of agents in the Writer's and Artist's Handbook 2009, which you can usually find in your public library, local Writing School, or you can buy from Waterstones/Borders/Amazon, etc!.

If you want to write a novel, then you will be enjoying teen life, hopefully! And you can always give yourself a day off to go see friends, etc!.

Good luck! Just keep writing, write til the end, and see what you've got!. If it's good enough, then you'll get published, no matter what age!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you enjoy writing, then writing is a great way to enjoy your teen years! At your age, there's a huge pull to be like everyone else, and it isn't until a person gets older that they start doing things for themselves for their own reasons!.

It's natural to want to be like everyone else, but if you want to drop writing and go to movies and hang out just because everyone SAYS that you should be doing those things, then you're ignoring writing for the wrong reasons!.

If, on the other hand, you genuinely feel a pull between the secluded life of writing vs the social life of a teenager, then it might be okay to have writing be only a hobby, rather than your life's focus!.!.!. you DO have your entire life to write, but only a few years of freedom from adult responsibility!.

It's up to you to make this choice!. It's not a matter of age, because you're definitely old enough to start writing!.!.!. but it is a matter of figuring out what YOU want, vs what other people want from you!.

Best of luck! I hope you think about your decision and come up with a plan of action that will bring you happiness :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

If it's what you want to be doing and enjoy it, then it's not a waste of your time!. If you'd be having more fun doing something else, then maybe you should put the novel on hold for a bit or at least not spend all of your time on it!. It kind of depends on what you want to be doing!. 14 isn't too young, so if you enjoy it, I say go for it! Even if it's not a success, you'll at least have fun and you can definitely build off of it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends what type of book you are writing!. If you are writing a life story (i!.e!. your own life story) I would probably wait until you are older as you have only just started to live my friend!.

If you are writing a fiction story or something, why not!. Go for it! As long as you are good at English and can write the words so that others understand, you could end up writing a great book!.

Some of the youngest minds have the best imaginations remember!

Good luck xWww@QuestionHome@Com

If you enjoy it, it is not a mistake, and you are enjoying your teen life!. Write! Who knows, you could be the next SE Hinton or (author of Eragon, can't remember his name)! The only caution I will give you is, because you are young, remember to keep experiencing life, as it will make your writing richer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your heart holds the answer to your question!. It all depends on your passion!. I think being a kid have nothing to do with fullfiling your heart desire!. You still can be a kid doing what you love to do!. Try to find balance between what you love to do and enjoying family and friends!.
Keep up the good work!. I'm proud of you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you are satisfied with the subject, and your presentation is good, carry on, you will always think back and wonder later on if you don't have a go, you may realise that it is not worth the trouble part way through, but that will be your decision!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes you should! there is no set age for writing a book and if it is something that you enjoy writing them then why the hell should you not!? i wrote one at a young age and because of that when it got published the money was a massive help ^_^ especially in my teens ;) Www@QuestionHome@Com

Continue if it is something that you want to do with your life!. I don't think it is to young at all!. I honestly don't think it depends on age!. I write poetry and I'm only 15!. but if writing is something that you love keep going!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Gordon Korman published his first book "This can't be happening at Macdonald Hall" when he was 15!. He has since written many books!. If you enjoy writing, and feel you can do it don't let anyone stop you!. Give it a try!. Quite frankly you're at the age now that is best to tryWww@QuestionHome@Com

Didn't some kid write Eragon instead of going to some school!?

Yeah, if you know you want to write, it you are willing to do what it takes to actually make it as a writer, then just start writing!. You don't have to be a certain age, you don't have to be this tall to ride!. You don't have to have money, you don't have to know any theory, you just have to do it!.

How do you get good at writing!? Degrees don't help!. You learn by doing!.

Keep a journal!.

Write short stories!.

Write longer stories!.

Try poetry, try essays, try freewriting!.

Highschool lectures on plot were no use to me, but when I learned about Joseph Campbell's ideas about the elements common to all great stories and myths I suddenly became able to write a complete story!.

Meet people!. Learn about different points of view and personal philosophies!. Read a lot and write a lot!.

Write every day!.

Write when you don't feel like writing!.

Oh, sure, when you get tired of it take breaks!. Get up from your computer and walk around, but if you give in to the temptation to put off work for long it can become a bad habit and you won't be a writer very soon after that, just someone who likes the idea of being a writer!.

So take breaks, pace yourself!. Take a day off a week, write for a couple of hours every other day, and whenever else you feel like it!. Go on walks outdoors!. Take a week away from writing every year!. Take a sabbatical every 10 years!. But keep hacking away as much as you can!.

Read a lot more and write a lot more!.

Write short stories!. Make notes!. Chat on IRC!. Keep a blog, keep a private journal!. Learn a new word every day!. Try using SuperMemo!. Write in first person!. Try different styles!. Write what you know!. Cultivate an interest in lots of things!.

Keep writing, keep reading!.

You learn by doing!.

Practice makes perfect!.

Make pen-pals with lots of people!.

The more you write the better you'll get, so start early!.

Write to me, I have more words of encouragement!.

See you in the bookstore!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
