Question: Irony in "Oh Captain My Captain" by whalt whitman!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The irony is that although Lincoln secured the country , brought it back together, made it "safe and sound," he risked his own safety, and was killed in the end!. He should be enjoying the adulation of the crowd, the ringing of the bells, the people exulting, the bugle trills, the bouquets- this should all be taking place in celebration of his victory, his accomplishments!. But instead the occasion for the gathering of the crowd, the ringing of the bells, and so on, is his funeral!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
