It's about the story and setting for most anyone that likes the book!. It has some pretty dark elements (more so in Through the Looking Glass the other book about Alice) and it's about a character that rebels against the things her teacher tells her by being a dreamer, much less actually getting lost in another world!. Alice is different, so it's not really all that surprising that anyone that stood out would identify with her!. Part of the interest could also stem from the era it was written in and the PC Game American McGee's Alice, which is definitely even darker and more gothic than the original tale!. Probably because Alice In Wonderland is kind of a twisted, morbid story!.
That and all the references to certain things (aka hookah, shrooms, 'eat me' cakes, etc!.!.!.), as well as the "wanting to be in a better place" type feeling!. Alice being in wonderland is like goths escaping their reality of depression/etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am by no means "goth" and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is my favorite story!. I have many different versions and copies of both the book and the films!. I just find it to be a wonderfully fantastic story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

because it's a story in essence of not fitting in!. this girl was thrust from what was comfortable and into a world that she didn't understand, and that didn't understand her!. and she wouldn't conform!. sounds kinda goth to me!.!.!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
