The scene in the movie where Gatsby is going through his closets, throwing clothes everywhere!. Not sure if it's a statement about fashion as much as his decadence in regards to fashion, buying whatever he wanted!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One of the theories for the origin of the term "flapper" is that women wore heavy galoshes that were too big for them, so they would make "flapping" noises as they walked!. It was a a big time in women's liberation, and women exaggerated femininity (wearing skimpier, shorter dresses), as well as tomboyishness (in their lopped-off bob haircuts)!. As for men, I think it was more of that swinger idea we have now!. Men's dress is drab now, but in the '20s they dressed as decadently as women - think "peacock", bright and showy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I hated the Great Gatsby I had to read it when I was a jr in high school!. If I remember right the 20's was a time when people got all decked out when they went out and sported Chiffon Dresses and Suit and ties!. Dresses and Coats were calf length!. also people did not go out in anything less than the best, it was an era of great fashion pride and formalness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

if you can watch the movie, did you try searching the internet!?

well, the story takes place in the roaring 20's and you had women who dressed as flappers, and wore make up and were jsut looking to have fun, b/c WWI had ended and people needed to get away from all the deaths!.!.!.
