I love both, but I have a special love for short stories!. They pack such a punch into such a short space!. They also don't leave room for rambling on the part of the author; you won't see pages of description of scenery and things like that!. They need to get all their ideas into a few pages, so the stories tend to get to the point quickly, and have more interesting action!. My particular favorite thing to read is any sort of classic ghost or horror story!. I have dozens of books of Victorian and Edwardian-era horror stories!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on my frame of mind!. Novels allow me a deep, continuous engagement with characters & their world!. But if I'm in a fragmented or troubled state, short stories are about all my mental focus can handle!. And if I'm very busy with other things, I can walk away from a short story collection much more easily than I can put down a good novel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Usually longer novels because they take me longer to finish!. But short stories are still fine if the storyline is good!. Eg!. Dream Chaser by Sherrilyn Kenyon!.!. =] Highly recommended!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
