The sin that Roger Chillingworth posesses drives him to be a fiend, he fiends off the torture of Dimmsedale once he finds his secret!. In Chillingworths case though once there is nothing to fiend off, he cannot exhist, he loses all purpose in life!. He is the most evil in the book!.

Arthur Dimmesdale on the other hand posesses a sin that constantly eats away at him, it even caues him to retreat to self torture such as whipping himself to attempt to find purity within himself!.

Hester Prynne's sin is a bit different!. Her sin ables her to do better!. Her Sin is out in the open and she has symbols of it all around her(The letter and Pearl) therefore she is forced to face it and do what she can!. In this case she becomes a better person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
