Position:Home>Books & Authors> Twilight fans...too defensive?

Question: Twilight fans!.!.!.too defensive!?
Do you think that Twilight fans are a bit too defensive when it comes to the books!? I mean almost every time someone says that they don't like the Twilight series, a twilight fan goes on this huge long rant about how the books are sssssssoooooooooooooooo amazing!. On multiple questions, twilighters will rant about stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with the question!. Someone asked on Yahoo Answers "what is your favorite book and your least favorite book!?" and when someone says that Breaking Dawn is their least favorite book, a bunch of twilight fans attack this person only because they aren't a fan of the book!. im not saying that all twilight fans do this, but dont you think that those people who do are completely ridiculous!? Everyone has the right to voice their own oppinion and people shouldn't hold prejudices just because others disagree with them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To be honest , I think that's because more Twilighters are ignorant and immature!. They hardly have read any other books than Twilight in their lives!. Most of them are kids , who aren't capable of respecting people who hold different opinions from them!.
Twilight is popular series!. And when you state something against the whole series , they conclude that you are another Anti Twilighter , who is bashing their "precious" books!.

I am, in fact, a Twilight fan, but I do agree that many people can be very defensive about the series!. It is very good but many people seem to worship it and take personal offense when someone does not like it!. People are entitled to their own opinions! I find it bizarre that some people expect everyone to like the same things as they do!. I have several friends who do not particularly enjoy the books!. They agree that Stephenie Meyer is a wonderful author but vampire romance simply isn't their 'cup of tea'!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes some twilight fans are like that!. But some people, like me, just get really mad when people purposely go on Twilight related questions and bash the book!. I mean it's fine if someone goes on a question like you said, your least favorite book, and say that twilight is there least favorite!. But to go on a question like: What is your favorite part of Twilight!? I mean, the person answering it reads the question and goes on it and purposly goes and says something like: none, that books suck!. Stephenie Meyer should go to hell!. That's just rude!. I mean if I saw I question that was about my least favorite book -- The Pearl by John Steinbeck -- I wouldn't go on and be all this books sucks, why are you reading it!?

It's fine if they have an opinion, but they don't have to go and bash on the book just for the fun of itWww@QuestionHome@Com

Sorry to all you people who answered this question, because I am one of these people!. It's just that you can get sooo addicted by the Twilight Saga, and then you sort of get defensive and expect everyone to like it!.
Sorry! Www@QuestionHome@Com

some times they do go berserk
i am a twilight fan but i don't rant a whole page long because its pointless because its not like the person is going to like twilight after i rant a whole pageWww@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, I agree!.
I'm a huge fan of the twilight series, but I accept that other people aren't as fanatical about them as me!! :-)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes I agree!. Most Twilighters just can't accept the fact that not everyone loves Twilight!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know I'm stereotyping when I say this but most of the fans that do this are the young fans!. They get very excited and defensive about any of their favorites whether it is books, bands, actors, etc!. It's just something that teenagers do!. Lord knows I did it myself when I was a teen, I just didn't have the internet to do it on like this website!. Now I do think it gets annoying (and I love the Twilight series) that every question on here has to revolve around Twilight (especially the questions that are asked repeatedly without any thought to looking up the answer elsewhere) but I am happy to see young girls (or boys) excited about books the way they get excited about movies or singers!. This is excellent and I can't complain (too much) that they are so pumped about reading because (as a teacher) this is exactly what I hope my kids are doing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
