Question: Why is the Twilight Saga so popular!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Because people feel that they can relate to Bella because she really is just a normal teen before she meets Edward!. Then people love the idea of a boy being like Edward is!.

Any story which incorporates myths and fantasies is bound to be popular because it provides a way of breaking free from reality for a few hours!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because it doesn't make you think!. Twilight is a poorly written, shallow, simplistic story!. It's on a fifth grade reading level, so it's not hard to understand!. There is barely a plot, which makes it a fluff read!. Fluff reads are easy to understand!. Twilight has no depth, symbolism, substance, or message!. There is no deeper meaning to the story!. You don't have to think to understand the story!. There is barely a plot and the story is completely unoriginal!.

The other reason it's popular is because it's the biggest self-insert in all of history!. Many teenage girls are insecure, hopeless romantics who think life sucks if you don't have a boyfriend and/or are shallow enough to think that if a boy is "hot", he's awesome!. I think Bella's self-consciousness is absolutely pathetic; many girls think it's "easy to relate with" because they themselves lack confidence!. They read the story and pretend they are Bella (or wish that Edward was real) because most of them are in love with the idea of love and are enthralled by the idea of a boy being obsessed with them!. Most of them ignore the fact that in real life, none of them would be happy to be as smothered by their boyfriend as Bella is by Edward; but because Bella describes Edward as "perfect" and "hot", they fall into the same trap!. Many of them lack the critical thinking skills necessary to see that Twilight isn't all that great and that the things Edward does are far from "perfect", regardless of how the horny Mary Sue describes him!.

I'm a teenage girl who loves *real* literature!. It makes me ashamed of my generation that something as awful was Twilight could be popular when there are so many better books out there!. I'm also disappointed with Stephenie Meyer; I think that if you are a writer that holds a lot of influence, as Smeyer does with these teenage girls, you should teach your readers something through your books!. JKR is popular (to say the least!), and she attempted to teach her readers something through Harry Potter!. There was a purpose to her story!. Smeyer, on the other hand, has openly admitted in interviews that she is simply "telling a story and there is no message to my series"!. That disappoints me!. Teenagers are exceptionally impressionable; I wish Smeyer would have used her popularity to teach her teenage fans something worth knowing, instead of writing a pointless novel that promotes unhealthy relationships, rationalizes immoral behavior with no consequences whatsoever for that behavior, glorifies suicide, and makes teen pregnancy look great!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's same reason why 'Buffy' first found its feet so quickly back in the 90s!. There are lots of teenage girls around who love romance and who also enjoy the mystery of things like vampires!. This is a romance series with a supernatural, vampirical twist!. It has a female lead character paired with a good-looking guy who has a very rare 'gift' since he's a vampire, not the boring immature kind of boy you usually find in schools!.

It's no surprise the books are popular!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because there will always be self absorbed teenage girls who think not having a boyfriend is reason enough to kill yourself and that the only validation a woman can ever have is to be noticed and liked by a beautiful man!.

It is appallingly written by an author who is a moron who declared her own hero to be better than Romeo, Heathcliff and Rhett Butler for no reason whatsoever than she describes how pretty he is in every other sentence while the other authors actually wrote a character and not a Calvin Klein model!.

It's popular for the same reason boy bands are popular!. Because most teenage girls are hormone driven!.

Oh and to the person who answered that ask a person on the street about Twilight and they'll say Edward Cullen!. Only in America mate!. Nobody on the street in any other country will even know what you're talking about!. I work with teenagers at a local theatre company and they all know about Harry Potter, High School Musical and Hannah Montana but none of them have a clue what Twilight is!.

Because its completely shallow, and spoon feeds teenage girls the same caricature of teenagers they love to gobble up!.

As a 17 year old who enjoys real literature, the Twlight series really dissapoints me!. It dumbs down most young girl's concept of what really good literature is!. A predicable plot with ridiculously fictionalized characters and meaningless teenage romance does not add up to a classic!. It adds up to a fad!.

But I have to say most girls my age are idiots, so my bar is set a little high!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

because so many girls are obsessive and shallow!. edward is just good looking and nice to bella, but what about everyone else!? i dont see him being nice to others at school!. looks are nothing compared to personality!. if twilight were like harry potter, i would see why it was popular, and it would have a very good reason!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's just a book she decided to write!. If she wanted to write something about that, it depends on who reads it and how interested in the book they are!. I certainly like it, and find it interesting and sometimes gripping!.

-Opinions vary, and I respect your opinions!. If you don't like the book, it's not your fault!. It's just not your type of interest!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's not a saga!. It's a series!.
Look up the word "saga" in a dictionary or goodle it!.

And it's popular because stupid girls who have no chance at love like to picture themselves as Bella and actually think the Edward will become real if they think hard enough about it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

NO IDEA!!!
I hated it and I think I'm like the only 14 year-old girl that did!. I don't get what's so special about it doesn't have a unique story line and wasn't exactly wonderfully written!. Every girl is like obsessed with Edward I find him boring he's always described as being perfect but perfection is uninteresting Www@QuestionHome@Com

'Cause 11-15 year old girls like the idea of having a hot vampire falling in love with them!.

And then they like to obsess about it!. And obsess about it!. And obsess about it!. And all the Internet users with any sense want to shoot them all out of sheer annoyance!.

!.!.!. Or is that just me!? ;)Www@QuestionHome@Com

because of one person and one person only!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Edward Cullen!. if you ask someone on the street who edward cullen is they will tell you he is from TWILIGHT!. i like twilight but i am not obsessed with edward!. i have a life thank you!.

oh and im sure u will hear differently from now on considering the 4th bookwas a complete waste of time and money!.

xoxoWww@QuestionHome@Com

You got me!. I don't know!. Given that it focuses almost entirely on a shallow, unhealthy relationship that is supposedly true love (OH PLEASE), is poorly written and has flat, Mary Sue characters, it seems impossible that it would do as well as it has!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

well mainly because of the romance between a human and a vampire and something that shouldnt b but happened anyways!. its really suspensful and it shows what is is 2 defy ur instincts and satisfy desire!. its most appealing 2 teenage girls around 12-16!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Teen girls love it because of the romance possibilities of Vampires!.!. and they understand Bella's awkwardness and social ineptness and that Edward is just a hunk!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because its target audience is ten to fourteen year old girls who are obsessed with romance, and a large group of girls and boys called "scenes" who are very into characters such as vampires!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

BLECHHH because silly teenage girls crave sappy fake romantic stories; It's understandable but only slightly pathetic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because Edward Cullen can sing Bananaphone well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

its unique!.
thats why i like it!.

its not that cliche, ordinary story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Its not popular with everyone!. Not me at least!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Marketing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
