Question: Would it be messed up if!.!.!.!?
Well, I'm writing a story!. And after trying to find a name for this guy (who is a total jerk) I came up with the name Jack/Jackson!. People thought that Jack fits the character very well!.

But there's just one problem!.!.!.Jackson is my ex-boyfriend's name!. The story is kinda based on something that happened to me, him, a friend, and a few other people!.
Would it be messed up if I gave the character my ex-boyfriend's name!?
I don't think I would share the story with anyone!.!.!.anytime soon!.

no not really !! its your story you write what you want !! the story will be much better if you write everything you want to write on it!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Right--any time soon!. Sooner or later you're likely to want to publish that story, and if your ex-boyfriend is the jerk you say he is and learns that you've used his name for a character suspiciously like him, he may see your story as a route to some easy money and think in terms of a lawyer!.

So call your character Jack Something Else!. How about Dalrymple!? A man of that name once told me that in Scotland, the only thing worse than being named Campbell is being named Dalrymple!. Or pick one of the many unpleasant last names you've encountered!. You've probably seen a few that make you glad they're not yours!. Or, it you feel daring, what's the real Jackson's first name!? Can you make a last name for your character out of it!? Then you can give him the middle initial A for good measure!.

Now if your ex's FIRST name is Jackson and he's called Jack for short, you have another decision to make!. Why not call your character Jason!? Although the name is very popular these days, the Jason of myth was a real jerk!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

ok, the first rule of a writer is write about what you know!. since you are basing it loosely on a past incident, it would be wise to not let the story hit print!. ok, so you ae not going to let it be seen by anyone for a long time, go ahead!.!. it's actually good therapy--my TP had me do something similarWww@QuestionHome@Com

well if you name a character the name of your ex, and he reads it, i think he might think you still like him or something!. and if you put him as a jerk, then he'll be really mad!. i think you should change it, personally!. but it does kind of sound good for a jerk :PWww@QuestionHome@Com

well, if he reads your book, despite what name you pick, he will know its him, it happened to him as well!.!.!.

If no one reads it, you will only know, and if that name really fits, it really doesn't matter

Of course not, most writers base they're pieces off they're own experiences!. IT is common to find a dislike of a certain name or place!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
