Alice's early history is very vague, as she remembers nothing of her human life and woke up alone as a vampire!.

It is eventually revealed that she was born around 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi and was kept in an asylum because she had premonitions!.

Alice was changed by an old vampire who worked at the asylum in order to protect her from James, a tracker vampire who was hunting her!.

After doing some research, Alice found her grave and discovered that the date on her tombstone matched the date of her admission to the asylum!.

Through her research she additionally discovered that she had a little sister named Cynthia, and that Cynthia's daughter, Alice's niece, was still alive in Biloxi!.

Hoffie said exactly what I would say, but I would also add that Alice and the older vampire had a relationship similar to Edward and Bella!. When James began tracking Alice, the older vampire gave his life to protect her, so Alice was the only prey to ever escape James in his deadly game!. Alice does get to watch the video tape that James makes in Twilight where he tells all about what happened to her!. She does background research, finds her grave, finds information about her little sister Cynthia, and finds out she has a niece!.
But Alice's sad story has a happy ending because she has Jasper now!. =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Totally fine!. Here's a short explanation!. Well, James was attacking her, when she was in the asylum!. A vampire was in love with her (she didn't love him, though, she really didn't understand what was going on), and then when she was about to die, the guy who loved her changed her into a vampire!.
