Question: Which contemporary authors/books will still be read in 50 years!?
I am curious!. In 50 years people will probably still read Faulkner, but I think Harry Potter will be long forgotten!.

Can you think of "new" authors or books that in 50 years will still be published and read!?

I'm especially curious about "not yet established" writers, so those who did not yet win a Nobel prize, etc!.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Here's one I can be relatively certain of - Ian McEwan!. He's studied at universities at the moment on contemporary novel courses!.

In fact, if you want to get the best idea possible of what will be read in 50 years, just look at uni websites and what books are on their contemporary novel courses!. Books that continue to be read for generations are the ones that are appreciated by intellectuals - for they are the people in the writing and publishing industry who heavily influence demand!. (They are also, obviously, the ones at schools and universities teaching others what previous books are classics!.) So whatever they're reading just now, they'll be reading in 50 years!.

Dude, Harry Potter's not going anywhere!. And for those who say "The Twilight Series"- they're a fad!. They don't reach out to the variety of ages like HP, they're mostly just getting bought up by 13-15 year olds who think a hot vampire being obssessed with them is the coolest thing ever!. I think the Enigma e-book is going to be considered quite valuable over time!. It's like the Huckleberry Finn of the Spiritual world!. Fun, convincing and very informative!.

It's 10th on the list here: http://newfreebooks!.com
