Question: Need help with writing!?
I have to have a short story ready and at least half way edited by Oct!. 21!.

The problem is I'm having trouble formulating a story!. I have an idea for a short story (several actually) but I don't know where to take the story!. I know that the main character is going to be a 14-yr old boy who's spent most of his life moving around!. He's just moved to a new city and is about to start high school!. He's fairly quiet and kind of an outsider!. Doesn't really fit into any specific sub-culture (goth, punk, etc) so even they shun him!. He's an athlete, but just an average player!. The type that helps the team, most not one of the star players either!. He's smart and very respectful so his teachers like him but his classmates don't really want anything to do with him!.
I know I want him to play sports (haven't decided which yet) and possibly use that as a sedgeway for making friends with some of his teammates!. But thing I'm having a hard time figuring out is the plot!.

It's been awhile (about 12 years) since I was in high school so don't really remember it all that well!. Somethings I remember (like getting slammed into lockers, jumped in the locker room after gym, fun stuff like that) but don't remember all the different cultures!. also having a hard time remember the elements of a good story!.

Please help!. I haven't worked on any real writing since about Feb!. and it's driving me nuts!. also have to have this written by Oct!. 21 for a critque group!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What is going to be your conflict!? That's a key point!.

How is he going to resolve it!? (Or not)!.

Description is always key!.

Where will he begin, what will he have learned!? How will he affect those around him!?

Spell-check is important!.

Good luck writing; you should be proud of yourself for going back to school after 12 years!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey! I was born in '96!

Well, if it helps, I could give you some examples of high school for me!.!.!.

I'm pretty much a freak!. I live to laugh and learn!. You sound American to me, so this might not help, but we have!.!.!.'people'!.!.!.called neds!.

I can't call them people!.

Neds are kind of like!.!.!.yobs or hoodies or whatever!. They are incredibly dumb, wear tracksuits and Mackenzie jackets and always seem to be surrounded by crowds!. The girls are typically orange and blotchy due to bad fake tan and have earrings the size of fists!.

The ones I sit beside in Science always ask for answers to the simplest of questions! It's insane!

Anyway, I'm kind of a geek and I have lots of geeky friends!. We are good in most subjects (bar PE) and we constantly make fun of popular kids and retards - often the same people!.

I'm in a debating club, a drama club and various musical groups!. I'd say I'm pretty much a stereotype - except I'm a nerd who has FUN!.

I laugh at everything and I can't stop joking!. I'm an entertainer!. I do random stuff all the time! I'll break into the funky chicken in the middle of the street!. People make fun of me a lot, but I have a tough skin and shrug everything off!.

I also have the craziest hair!.

I'm just saying that us smart types are really more fun than everyone else!.

We tend to get along with 'alternative' folks too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
