Lord of the Rings question about Dwarves?

Question: Lord of the Rings question about Dwarves!?

In the Lord of the Rings it doesnt really have the Dwarves help fight except 1 dwarf!. The Elves sent slodiers to help fight with the Humans so what happend to the Dwarves!. Did they all get killed!? Or where they just hiding in their caves!. Please explain why Tolkein didnt have them fight in large numbers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe the dwarves were already preoccupied with problems of their own!. I found this:

Dwarves did not figure prominently in the major battles of the War of the Ring although the Lonely Mountain was besieged for a time and Dáin killed in the Battle of Dale!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i would assume it was because as most of gimly's family was killed by the orks!. The rest of the dwarfs went into hiding or simply Tolkien put all of his energy into creating one main character - who was interesting enough to ensure that the lack of dwarfs was not widely noticed!.

well, he was one of the only dwarves that would help because he was in the fellow ship!. the others that were not killed by golblins were hiding caves!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

when they go through Moria in the fellowship, they encounter all the dead dwarves which have been overun by orks!. That was why dwarves never faught: Because they had hid,fleed or chose not to fightWww@QuestionHome@Com
