I want to start writing stories!. I just started AS-Level English Literature (age 16) and have this real urge to write brilliant stories like the ones i am reading!. i know i just can't write an amazing novel right away but do you have any tips on where to start and with what topics!?!?!? Every time i think about it i just can't seem to put anything on paper even though i have loads of random ideas

Anything at all!.
If ever an interesting sentence pops in your head, write it down, an idea, write it down, a character, write it down!.

No use trying to force out a story, it will sound silly and rushed (believe me, i no from experience)!.
Just anything and everything, and after a while you might be able to put them together to make a story, or, you never know, you might suddenly have the whole plot appear in front of your eyes like J!.K Rowling!.

Remember:
Eveything you think is good, it can be changed later!.
Don't ever think 'that sounds stupid' cause you might ba able to make it work!.
And never, NEVER rush yourself!. Take your time, it will sound so much better when its fresh and new!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I write about whatever interests me, I start with short stories and take all of my ideas and put them into words!. You might even be inspired to take all of those short stories and write a novel!. Use personal experience for everything you write, thats where the best ideas come from
good luck

The best tip would be to write down an idea as soon as you get it!. When you go to write whatever it is you wish to write look back at the ideas you wrote down and see what you can do with those!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Write about your life experiences!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Some prefer to write short stories, others write longer stories better!. Personal preference!.

As for tips, find a topic you are interested in and/or know about and put some ideas down!. Life experiences can be good when writing!. When you have an idea you really like start writing it out!. If you don't like it you will never finish it!. Try to only write one idea at a time or that will probably stop you finishing any stories as you have too much to focus on!.

Write, write and keep writing!. Practice always helps you improve!. Next, read as much as you can!. Lastly, write for you not anyone else!. If you like a story then write it, no matter what other people say about it or what you think you will get for it!. It's easier to write something if you are writing because you enjoy it

Edit: Fanfictions, as mentioned below, are a good way to get into writing!. If you go to fanfiction!.net they have loads of fanfictions!. You can write them on pretty much anything!. If you get an idea for a fanfiction see if you can make it into an original ideaWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think fanfiction is a brilliant way to get into writing!.

Start small!.

Choose a book that you like!. Write a chapter that belongs a week, or a month, or a year after that story ends, or before it starts!.

Think hard about keeping the characters inkeeping with how they are in the original book, concentrate on keeping the dialogue realistic, the events interesting!.

The fact that the characters and their stories already exist means that you're not suddenly plunged into creating all that stuff for yourself!. You have to add new situations, and you can add new characters if you want to, but the basics are already there for you so you can just concentrate on writing well!.

You can post your chapters at a site like http://www!.fanfiction!.com if you want to get some feedback on them!.

Use the writing of fanfiction to improve your writing technique!.

Make sure that what you write isn't just one genre!. A really good story (even if it's just one chapter) is funny AND tragic!. You can add romance, fantasy, mystery, whatever fits, but don't just make it one idea, one emotion, one thought!.

When you've practiced with fanfiction for a while, if you get ideas, start writing original short stories!. And you can move on to longer, chaptered fanfictions - practice planning, plotting, character development, etc!.

Soon you'll have experience, skills and ideas to be writing your own chaptered original stories!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
