Question: Looking for a short story involving dragons!?
I read this story years ago and now for the life of me I can't remember the author or title!.
The story is focused on a young boy (maybe 12/13 years old) who lives in a world of dragon riders!. Different colored dragons have different powers, and with certain colored dragons being rare!. There is a ceremony when the dragons hatch and they become attached to the young men for life!. This boy is an outcast, but he ends up with a connection with a gold dragon, the rarest one of all, and they have a telepathic link!.

The Smallest Drgonboy (I believe that's the correct name) By Anne McCaffrey can be found in her short story collection Get OFF the Unicorn!.
The boy (K'van) isn't an outcast so much as he is the victim of bullies!.
The story is part of her Dragonriders of Pern series!.
Might be Littlest Dragonboy !.!.!.
I know it's the right book :-)
He doesn't end up with a gold, though!.
My daughter says you may be thinking of The White Dragon (also by Anne McCaffrey) where the boy, Jaxom, (born to be a Holder) accidentally impresses the only white dragon, Ruth, who is unusual in many ways (can tell where he is in time)!. He is then part Holder, part Rider, and eventually earns the respect of both factions of society, and of course, the pair save the world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I want to say it's in a collection of short stories by Anne McCaffrey!. I don't think the book specifically says that it's a book of short stories in the title or anything, you'd have to really look at the book!. Pretty sure the name has "dragon" in it!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
