Question: Annoying or understandable!?
Whenever I come to the Books&Authors section of Answers, I find around a dozen new questions that sound to me as if they were asked because the asker cannot be bothered to think for him/herself - i!.e!. the infamous homework questions!.

I can see that sometimes people really cannot do something, but in my humble opinion, that is why they opened the section "Homework Help" under "Education and Reference" (yes, this is a hint)!.

I wondered if anyone else found this annoying, too, or if I am completely overreacting and should try to be more understanding!.!.!.!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The argument I've heard from those posting their homework questions here is that they seldom get help in the corresponding section (Homework)!. Hence, they bring book related questions here!.

You are not alone at being annoyed!. It does bother me when:

1!. They expect answerers to do all the work for them!.

2!. They go "QUICK I NEED THIS RIGHT NOW" and not even a thank you to close their request!.

3!. They literally spam with a sequence of questions related to a book, instead of keeping all the questions related to that one book under the same subject!.

4!. Answerers that give full answers to questions that are, obviously, part of a quizz or intended to determine if someone actually bothered to read the book (they are doing no one any favors and for what!? A grand total of 2 points, as most people asking questions don't even bother to come back to give their choice of Best Answer)!.

I don't mind people asking book related questions here related to homework!. What bothers me is the how some of the kids post those questions and their expectations!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A much better approach to "homework" questions would be for the asker to post their intended answer and request others to comment on it!. At least it would show some honest effort!.

But I don't expect reality to conform to my desires anytime soon!.

What future for literary awareness, when "doing" a book involves avoiding reading it and thinking about it!?
(Even at the second-hand level of a teacher's leading questions!.)

We're producing people who can't read beyond the most mechanical level!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree that it is annoying!. What I find even more annoying are those people who reply by actually doing their homework for them!.

Another thing that I find annoying are the same exact questions being asked over and over!. I'm sure that YA has a feature that tells you that others have asked that question before!.

Examples of those questions:

"Where can I read books online for free!?"

"Did you like Breaking Dawn!?"

"Is Stephanie Meyer going to finish Midnight Sun!?"

When reading your question I felt you were reading my mind!. Same with the answers!. I can't add a thing - you really articulated my thoughts and so did the vast majority of the respondents!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i am not bias but i think that the other people do not know that there is such section in Yahoo Answers!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The sorts of questions you're referring to can also be found in the science sections!. I get annoyed too, because (as much as everyone hates to hear it when they're a schoolchild) if you don't do it yourself, you'll never learn!. I feel like lecturing those errant students, saying, "Sure, you may never need to analyse literature or solve wordy mathematical problems in your post-school life, but you're supposed to be acquiring more skills than those!. You should be learning self-discipline, the value of study and hard work and effort, how to research things for yourself, how to communicate effectively, and how to apply your mind and thinking skills to a variety of situations!"

Then I feel like giving a convincing yet absurdly wrong answer!. But if it's something I may be able to help with, I sometimes give in and give a hint or suggestion!.

P!.S!. Can't stand it when parents do their kids' homework either!Www@QuestionHome@Com
