Question: What made you realize that you were a writer!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I don't always realize my status as a writer!. I've published short stories, articles, edited the works of others!. I do ghost writing, speech writing, and public speaking, my ultimate achievement was the recent publication of two contemporary romance novels by Kensington Books!. And the title writer or author still do not come to me easily!. I'm not humble by any means but it's essential for me to keep things in perspective!. I write because I love it not because I'm a writer!. I read because I love it not because I'm a writer, I am a single mother, with my own home and a decent career that allows me to have time to write and raise my kids and enjoy other luxuries!. None of this is because I'm a writer and yet all of it contributes to me becoming one!.
Seeing my books in the bookstore was amazing, my last booksigning was as exciting as my first!. When someone asks me about my books I still get carried away simply by the fact that I accomplished a dream of mine, and yet I'm still reluctant to call myself writer though I have no problem with Author!. Author is a title for someone who has published a book, writer is for one who has made a career of it, who has a body of work that will stand the test of time, someone dedicated to the art of writing!. I consider myself all of those things and yet there was never a pivotal moment when I stood up and said 'I'm a writer!.' I write so I guess I am a writer!. We all are!. But a professional is an Author, or journalist, or screenwriter, or television writer so I guess I'm that as well and yet the journey is still so fresh and new and exciting and sometimes I just feel humbled by it all!.
And I have a big issue with the guy or chick who suggested 'anyone' can write!. While anyone can put pen to paper and share ideas it is a special breed who can stick with it in the face of hundreds of rejections and a elite group who make it to publishing status (keep in mind an editor does edit your work but not as much as you'd like to believe, they will toss it back to you with a short note that says 'FIX THIS BY -------')!. And a small percent become best sellers time and time again!.

When I first began to take a vivid interest in life and its concepts and when I was able to put my feelings about them in words!.

Personally, I don't think it takes much to be a writer!. What is the main purpose of a writer!? Well, it has to depend on the type of writing you do, of course, but when I think about this question carefully, I believe that everyone can be a writer, as long as you have emotions and feelings!. I think that writing helps you to bring across your ideas to an audience, to share your views with them about anything!. So, it's possible for everyone to realize that they can be a writer, just as long as they have feelings!.

Putting feelings into words is different!. You don't need to have excellent grammar or vocab to be a writer!. Editors can do that for you!. The main thing is that you have your own views, your own stand!. Because only you know yourself!.

And when you've got a clear idea of that and you see the world in your own light, I think you can be a writer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Everyone is a writer because we can all write!.

Now, being a True Writer, that's an entirely different matter!. Being a True Writer is knowing the grits of what goes into a story, in which I do!.

I only realized I was met for it when I became accepted to write for the Augusta Chronicle's Xtreme section, and I realized that even though I won't be getting paid, it counts as publishing credits, especially because the chronicle is a big newspaper and not one of those small ones where you don't need a degree in journalism to write for it!.

So, while I'm doing the re-write of my novel, I am getting notches under my belt!.

Actually, you do need to have excellent grammar!. Editors will not accept a novel with okay grammar!. And if you have okay grammar, you have okay writing!. That's how it works in the formula of writing!. Bad grammar=bad writing!. Great grammar=great writing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
