Question: Has anyone read any of "The Wizard Of Oz" books!?
If you have, I was wondering what you thought of them!. I'm considering buying them, but if I did I'd buy the whole set in one go, and wanted to make sure if it was worth it!.

I believe that the books are a little more darker than the Judy Garland film (which to me is a good thing), and I bought Return To Oz on DVD and am hoping to watch it this weekend!.

Can anyone pass on any thoughts for me!? Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The original Oz books aren't dark at all - they're children's books!. There are 14 in the Original series!. In them, there are lots of quirky, non sense characters!. There's humor for younger fans and lots of witty puns for mom and dad reading to little Junior!.

If you're an Oz fan, I would strongly suggest reading them!. They can get a bit repetitive with the journey motif, but the Baum's imagination is endless!.

Did you know he wrote about a "clock work man" named Tik Tok before robots were even THOUGHT about!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!. I did like them, though I don't think any of the later books are quite as good as the first one!. There are good characters and lots of humour and the books are definitely a lot better than the film!.

I personally did not much care for the Judy Garland movie, so much that is in the book is left out, and also Judy Garland was frankly too old to play Dorothy ("who is that woman!?" my son asked me in puzzlement when we watched the film, he was very surprised when I told h im she was supposed to be Dorothy)!. The thing I really disliked about the film though was that it all turns out to be a dream in the end, which is absolutely not the case in the books!. I found that very annoying!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are several sets of Ox books!. There are the set that L!. Frank Baum wrote!. However several other authors wrote Oz books including the latest Gregory Maguire!.

I read the first 14 by Baum and one or two of the others!. I did read the Maguire books and hated them but loved the play Wicked!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The original Oz books by L!. Frank Baum are classic original American fantasies, full of marvelous adventures and fun characters, spellbinding concepts and fun wordplay!. Oz is a fine realm to wander in, no matter what age you are!.
The Oz books written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, which followed Baum's first fourteen volumes, are also very good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i also think you are asking about the wicked books!. i just bought them at barnes and nobles in one leather bound book!. it was not expensive!. i have not started them but they do seem intriguing enough!. i do not thing exploring a book on your own is ever bad!. even if it isnt your type of book!. what have you really lost!? nothing but time you were already trying to kill!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can actually read them online!. I'm in the middle of them myself!. So far I like them!. :) Maybe it's worth at least checking them out before you buy them!.
