I'm assuming you speak of the many Harry Potter fans who have told JK Rowling that they have secretly tried out the spells she has created for her world!. Well, you get a group of obsessive fans in every cult-status media sensation that catches the public's attention!. Generally, people just want something to believe in, and as many suppose that there is real witchcraft in the world, something like Rowling's Harry Potter seems to touch a nerve in a lot of their minds that tells them it might be real!. I mean, it's like the obsessive Twilight fans who go to such extremes as dying their hair brown and go around telling everyone to call them "Bella!." They get so absorbed in it, and want to believe the spell/characters/situations in the book(s) are so real that they actually believe it's real and will try anything in their power to bring the imaginary into real life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Ok this rumour was started by Christian extremists who claim that JK Rowling is a witch (ie Laura Mallory http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Religious_d!.!.!. They claim that through Harry Potter Rowling is sending messages of the occult to corrupt the children of today and send them to witchcraft!. See: insane Anyway to add support to their theory they claim that the spells in Harry Potter are actually real spells used by Wiccan's!. They have evidence of "ex-witches" who claim that some of the spells are the real thing!. Basically it's a pile of stinking poo!. They're crazy and want kids of today to read nothing but the bible!. JK Rowling researched her books THOROUGHLY before publishing!. Her character names are deeply rooted in mythology and many of the made-up words are based on latin words of a similar meaning!. The christian extremists use this as their proof, when simply, all it is is JK Rowling being a thorough and detailed writer which enriches HP and makes it the amazing books loved by millions!. Don't believe it!. Obviously they're not real!. There's probably a few 6 year olds running round with a piece of wood and yelling "expelliarmus"!. But that's more childhood imagination and naivety that I'm pretty sure all kids have!. And on your Hero's thing!. I believe that yes if we were in constant danger our brain would probably reach a bit more of it's potential!. Look back thousands of years to what the cavemen were doing, I think we've already expanded our brain potential!. But I guess the main reason is that the spells are written in something like Latin!.
