Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
IMHO I do not think so!.
I read all the books, and while they are good, interesting, entertaining and fun books, I do not think the writing itself is brilliant in a way that will give it that staying power!. I think it will be read for a few generations, but I don't think it is on par with a Dickens, Tolstoy, Homer, or the Bronte's, Austin, or even LM Montgomery if you want to stick with children's literature, and Francis Hogson Burnette!.
Don't forget that here is a whole percentage of the public who do not like the books!. They are not comfortable with letting their kids read about whitches!.!.!.even when they are being the good guys!. Especially when they are the good guys!.
I know lots of people who have never read Jane Eyre, but none who are actually, morally offended by it lol!.
I say no to classic status!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, because the books are about more than just magic!. It's about how a pitiful boy was able to rise up and be a hero who destroys evil!. It also contains many universal themes about friendship, love, acceptance, tolerance, and how different people from around the world can work together for a common goal (which is in Harry's case, to get rid of Voldemort)!. It even talks about things like discrimination, but instead of it being about race, it's about pure-bloods vs!. muggles!.

Many people don't see the lessons that are provided in the books!. All you need to do is read one of Dumbledore's quotes and you can learn something meaningful from it!. So I think that the future will observe this more and consider it to be a classic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The reason Harry Potter has been such a hit, is that when Philosophers Stone was written there was nothing out there for the 8 - 10 year old market (especially for boys)!. When you re-read the series the books have developed and matured to keep the reader that read Philosopher's stone when they were 8, still reading Deathly Hallows at aged 18!. See how may 8 year-olds enjoy Order of the Phoenix and you will find that not many do!. Most children's authors write for an age group and once the child has outgrown that age group they then need to find another author!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that the Harry Potter series of books will in fact become classics!. The themes they deal with, good vs!. evil, friendship, loyalty, redemption, the trials of adolescence, and the unflinching way Rowling exposes her young heroes to grim realities like death will appeal to future generations!. "Pottermania" may ebb and flow, but I expect that as the children who grew up on the books become parents, they'll pass on their love of the series to their own offspring!. And of course there will always be those who discover the books on their own!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

OF COURSE harry potter is going to be a future classic!. its the perfect read kids to grandparents!.!. people of all ages have loved it, cherished it, and its sold millions of copies the first day out!. the movies have only increased the popularity, and given faces to the names, making the series even easier to remember, especially non-readers!. herry potter will forever be remembered as a classic , and a true one at that!. not at all like a stupid song/ music video!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes! As previously stated, JKR deals with a whole range of issues; race in particular!. In years to come, it will be one of those books that people study in classes so they can write a lengthy essay on them!.

Another reason why it will become classic (and these aren't my words); JKR managed to get people of all ages excited about reading and writing in a generation that loves the internet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think the Harry Potter books could well become classics!. There is something about them that readers seem to find very gripping, and they are set in a magical world that doesn't date!.

It is very hard to say though!. enormous numbers of books that were extremely popular in their day have sunk without trace!. It is hard to say which ones will last and which ones won't!. I personally feel that Harry Potter is one that will!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I certainly hope they are here to stay but somehow, I don't think they'll hold the same interest for the future generations as they did for us!. I mean, we grew up with Harry Potter!. We know what it's like to stay awake till midnight to hear what happens to Harry and his friends!. We remember the suspense and the excitement, which is what made the book more exciting!. We wanted to know what came next!. In the future they wont need to wait, they can just read all the books at once!. So I cant be sure- if you understand!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, because Harry Potter is such a good series!.!.!.kids are even waiting for their Hogwarts letters when they turn 11 ;)
The movies just make the books better in some ways, and even if all the excitement dies out, I know that parents would want their children to read the books they read when they were younger and so on =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it has something to do with the fact that with songs, you hear them everywhere and over and over again; this is why we tire of them!. With a good story, we (usually) don't read it over and over again, but remember it (and not word for word, like a song)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I could definitely be one!. It is in a nearly completely fictional world so it won't get dated in a hurry!. And a lot of current fans are going to want their kids to experience the it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, I would consider them classics!. My children will read them, and their children, and so on!. They won't be huge hits like they are now, but I would bet they'll still be on the reading list of every kid!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

i do see harry potter being a classic some time in the future!. because its one of the best books out there for anyone to readWww@QuestionHome@Com

It will not be a classic!. The writing is really quite poor!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
