Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I English class, I've read a lot of different books!. In Elementary School (4th grade), we read a book called The Man Underneath the Bridge or something to that effect!. We read it around Christmas time, and it was probably around 50 pages or so!. They were preparing us for the books to come ahead, I guess!. All I remember about it is that it had a little white dog, a hobo, and some three kids!. In 5th grade!.!.!. I read two books, My Side of the Mountain and The Island of the Blue Dolphins!. My Side of the Mountain was pretty good, though I'd already read it before!. All I remember is Sam!.!.!. the boy I think, and then there was Frightful, his falcon!. I've read all three in the series!. As for Island of the Blue Dolphins, I can barely remember that one, only that it had sea otters in it!. In 6th grade, lord, we had to read Tangerine, Where the Red Fern Grows, and Tuck Everlasting!. They were both great books, I was surprised!. I remember Tangerine being a little bit odd, but Tuck Everlasting was a really great book! Where The Red Fern Grows was a little bit descriptive at time, but it was great too, I loved it! 7th!.!.!. hmmm!.!.!. I think the only book we read was The View From Saturday, the most boring book on the face of the planet, in my views!. 8th was Animal Farm!. I thought it was quite interesting!. As for high school, I'm not sure exactly what you might have to read, but I know mine had to read 1776, Farenheit, etc!. ^__^Www@QuestionHome@Com In year seven in the extension English class I had to read 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' by Shakespeare, obviously!. But because it's so long we had to read this terribly abridged version of the play, so I got the book from the library and it rocked!. Later in year seven I had to read 'Holes' by Louis Sachar!. Is it wierd that I find all these books good!? Anyway, we had to watch the movie, too!. That's when I discovered the beauty that is Shia Labeouf!.!.!. Later still in year seven I had to read 'Island of the Blue Dolphins' by Scott O'Dell!. It's a really good book actually, I really enjoyed it and thinking of it know I want to read it again! In year eight I had to read 'Galax-Arena' by Gillian Rubinstein, it was also an excellent book!. I 'forgot' to return it at the end of term, I still have it and read it sometimes when I'm bored!. Hmm yeah I don't remember any others!.!.!.!. I know there were more but I guess they were just boring books because they didn't stick in my mind at all!.!.!. Books you read in early high school tend to be good if you are at a decent reading level, I've noticed that the reading-skill challenged people in my classes seemed to lose interest and dislike the books!. I actually miss year seven and eight English because I read so many great books and poems and stuff!. Anyway, I hope that's detailed and gives you the information you were looking for!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com In English class we're reading a play called "Galileo" by Bertolt Brecht!. So far, we haven't gotten past the introduction!. We're also reading essays from a collection titled "A World of Ideas!." The first essay we read from it was Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience!." We're actually reading more in our history class!. Plato's "Apology of Socrates" and "Crito!." Finocchiaro's "The Galileo Affair!." Graham Swift's "Waterland!." All of these are nonfiction except for the last!.Www@QuestionHome@Com You mean in English class!? Well I'm from Holland so it's going to be a bit different than in other countries but here it's in one word: boring!. Last year I had to read "the eye the sky" and also 'Stepford wives!." which were both (to my opinion) incredibly dull and way to easy to read!. This year I heard we were going to read short stories, but I haven't heard the details!. I'd much rather read things from Austen, Shakespeare or Bronte but I guess that's to difficult for most in my class :-( Www@QuestionHome@Com 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell!. It is an allegory, an animal fable and a satire!. It shows how corruption of power makes an ideal world seemingly impossible!. The characters in the book all represent real people eg Old Major, the old boar which came up with the idea of Animalism, stands for Karl Marx and Lenin, who came up with the idea of Communism, and Napoleon represents Stalin etc!. Although the events which take place in the book parallel those which happened before and after the Russian Revolution, it is not just about one dictator, but about all of them!. We also get an idea of how the use of language 'can corrupt thought' (as Orwell used to say)!. Example Squealer in the book spoke of 'readjustments' but never 'reductions'!. Thus the animals get brainwashed!. A very interesting book!. We also had 'Rebecca' by Daphne du Maurier, another beautiful book, full of mystery and the classic, 'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte!. Apart from prose we also did drama!. We had Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet', which was a really interesting read!. Our teacher made it fun as well, she told us to make an old letter pretending its from Tybalt to challenge Romeo to a sword-fight!. I found it quite funny, apart from the end of course, which is both tragic and beautiful!. We also did 'Burning Everest' by Adrian Flynn, about a boy called Jim who desperately wants his mother's love!. He fantasizes about Mount Everest, pretending he is George Mallory, only for Jim, climbing Everest is getting back his mother's love!. We are doing Mariza's Story, another book where a girl is deprived of her mother!. It's very terrible to think that even people nowadays are living in such a poor state!.Www@QuestionHome@Com this year AS english literature: -the handmaids tale -top girls -i know why the caged bird sings at high school i read: -the machine gunners -of mice and men -romeo and juliet -great expectations -holes -the indian in the cupboard -thats about it i thinkk!.!.!. i dont like reading things at school, it takes so long and its really boring listening to other people read out loud xxxWww@QuestionHome@Com It's been awhile but here's what I remember: 7th grade - A Midsummer Night's Dream 8th - Ender's Game, Our Town 9th - Flowers for Algernon, I am the Cheese, Romeo and Juliet; we also got to choose a couple from a list and I chose the Catcher in the Rye and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 10th - Alas Babylon, The Grapes of Wrath, Cyrano de Bergerac, the Crucible, Sula 11th - I took poetry 12th - Angela's Ashes, Bright Lights Big City, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Heart of Darkness, Caucasia, In the Lake of the WoodsWww@QuestionHome@Com 9th grade: speak, romeo n Juliet 10th grade: tears of a tiger, lord of the flies, Shakespeare, the pearl 11th grade: were reading a rasin in the sun right now!. my sister in 12th grade has read: the great gatsby and fahrenheit 451Www@QuestionHome@Com read these list of books : 10th Muse: Blade of Medusa (Prose Novel) by Darren G!.
